Second Annual Laver Cup Bound for Chicago in 2018
Chicago will host the second edition of the Laver Cup next year , at the city ’ s 23,500-seat United Center . The inaugural Laver Cup was held in Prague on Sept . 22-24 , as Team Europe defeated Team World , 15-9 . The Laver Cup pits six top players from Europe against six of their rivals from the rest of the world in a unique format , playing singles and doubles under a staggered scoring system .
The 2018 event in Chicago will take place Sept . 21-23 . “ It ’ s personally thrilling for the Laver Cup to be coming to my hometown of Chicago ,” says Katrina Adams , chairman , president and CEO of the USTA , which is a partner in the Laver Cup . “ To be associated with the legacy of the United Center and working with their team will allow us to showcase this event and attract more players to our sport .”
Rebound Ace Portable chosen as Laver Cup Surface in Prague
The Rebound Ace Portable sport surfacing system from California Sports Surfaces , a brand under ICP Construction , was the surface chosen for the inaugural Laver Cup in Prague , Czech Republic , in September . Laver Cup organizers worked with CSS to create a black surface that would keep spectators focused on the play .
Rebound Ace Portable is an interlocking , temporary court system that provides premium cushion and comfort . It has beenused at several high-profi le events , including the Fed Cup , Davis Cup and the Singapore-based WTA Finals , for which it was specifi cally created .
Wilson Launches Custom Racket Shop
Wilson has launched its Custom Racket Shop , an online experience that allows players to design a Wilson performance frame to their personal specifi cations .
“ We built this dynamic and completely new customization experience to put the player in control of how their racquet looks and feels ,” says Hans- Martin Reh , general manager of Wilson Racket Sports .
Players can select a 2017 Wilson Pro Staff , Blade or Burn model that best fits their style of play on the website ( wilson . com / customrackets ), then customize their frame by selecting options including different finishes , frame colors , decals , grommets , bumpers , logos , model names , metal letterings and grips .
