My Perfect Product Ruislip Windows on the Victorian Sliders ECOSlide Sash Window

With over 40 years in the trade and eight dedicated teams of fitters on the road, Ruislip Windows is a well-established, familyrun business that’ s built its reputation on quality and trust. For John Flynn, managing director, and his team, choosing the right product is about more than just good looks – it’ s about durability, service, and longterm reliability. That’ s why their perfect product is the Victorian Sliders ECOSlide ® sash window – a solution that combines traditional aesthetics with modern practicality …
John, what’ s your perfect product?
Manufactured correctly, the ECOSlide ® could easily be the best window in the world. But no matter how good a product is, if it’ s not put together properly or backed up by great service, it’ s not worth much. What matters is having reliable support from your
supplier – if there’ s an issue, you want it dealt with efficiently and professionally. It’ s a bit like having a printer or a computer: it’ s not just about the machine itself, it’ s about the service behind it.
How long have you used the product, and what led you to take it on?
We’ ve been using ECOSlide ® since around 2010 – so about 15 years now. Ruislip Windows has been operating for 40 years, and while I wasn’ t here for the original decision to take it on, the fact that it’ s remained a core part of our offering speaks volumes. It’ s a solid product that has stood the test of time.
Can you sum up the product in three words?
Aesthetics, Efficiency, Convenience.
How does it compare to similar products on the market?
In our experience, some other suppliers just didn’ t deliver – the backup was poor, and too many things went wrong. With Victorian Sliders, the service has really improved over the years, and they’ ve stuck to what they know and do best. That consistency and reliability have earned our loyalty. We don’ t need to look elsewhere.
What features, qualities or benefits make this product stand out?
It’ s the attention to detail – the furniture matches the style of traditional sash windows perfectly, and toughened glass comes as standard on both top and bottom panes. It’ s a robust, durable product that still looks the part, which is exactly what our customers are after.
What kind of customer typically uses this product – and how do you sell it to them?
Most of our ECOSlide ® installations are in older, traditional London properties
– homes from the early 1900s. These usually feature face-fix box sashes that sit against the plaster line, and timber replacements just aren’ t practical anymore. ECOSlide ® is ideal for areas like Ealing or Brentwood, where people want to maintain the look of their home but without the hassle. It’ s practical, long-lasting, and doesn’ t require constant upkeep.
What kind of projects does this product suit best?
Definitely traditional homes – the design fits best with period properties from around the 1900s. It’ s not a one-size-fits-all solution, but when it’ s right, it’ s spot on.
Are there any surprising advantages or unexpected uses?
Not really – it’ s a case of knowing what you want and getting exactly that. Years ago, sash windows were handmade on benches. These days, customers are usually looking for that same look and feel, but with modern performance. ECOSlide ® delivers
just that – no surprises, just reliability.
How does this product fit with the rest of your range, and what does it say about your business?
It complements everything else we offer. We’ ve got ECOSlide ® on display, and it looks fantastic next to our aluminium bifolds, composite doors, and other products. For customers looking to revamp their entire home, we can supply everything – doors and windows – all from one place. That full-service approach is a big part of our brand.
How do you choose products and suppliers in general? What are the key factors?
Recommendations from trusted companies go a long way. We’ ve had bad experiences in the past with unreliable suppliers, and usually, we end up going back to the original ones who got it right. We’ ll never install something in a customer’ s house that we wouldn’ t be happy to have in our own. Quality always comes first.
