STELLAR SUSTAINABILITY CREDENTIALS

With the government ’ s 2050 net zero target , sustainability is a critical issue across our industry . Phil Parry , Business Development Director at Epwin Window Systems , has been discussing the sustainability credentials of the Stellar aluminium window and door system and how the multi award-winning system gives their customers a head-start . He comments : “ If the UK is going to meet our net zero ambitions , everyone has to play their part . This was at the forefront of our thinking as we developed Stellar .”
As an aluminium system , Stellar immediately has plenty of sustainability advantages . Phil says : “ Aluminium is infinitely recyclable without loss of quality and it ’ s estimated that nearly 75 % of all aluminium ever produced is still in use today . Recycling and reusing aluminium saves up to 95 % of the energy required for primary aluminium production , so it ’ s a very efficient material to work with .”
With Stellar , Epwin Window Systems takes the sustainability of aluminium even further .
Phil says : “ All the aluminium for Stellar is sourced from the UK , helping to keep carbon emissions from transportation to a minimum . Thanks to features such as the patented Reverse Butt Joint we also use up to 30 % less profile for comparably sized windows , which means we use less raw material . We are also an Interpon D Approved Applicator , which means we use powder coatings that offer sustainable building solutions , as well as providing a quality guarantee .”
In use , Stellar ’ s slim sightlines means less reliance on artificial light to illuminate rooms . And because insulation is a fundamental part of the system design , not an afterthought , Stellar meets Building Regulations without the complexity of additional foams or expensive aerogels .
Aluminium has an exceptionally long lifespan . Phil comments : “ The longer a material lasts in use , the better it is for the planet . Studies show that polyester powder coated aluminium windows such as Stellar are capable of retaining their colour and gloss retention for more than 40 years .”
Epwin Window Systems is a company renowned for leading the way in environmental matters . The systems company was the first to achieve the BES6001 accreditation for the responsible sourcing of its inputs . It also works to the internationally recognised ISO 14001 standard for Environmental Management .
Phil concludes : “ Consumers are increasingly concerned about the environmental impact of their actions so sustainable products make good business sense . But apart from that , producing environmentally responsible products is just the right thing to do .”

FIT SHOW MOVES TO MAY 2022

FIT Show organisers have announced the further postponement of its September 2021 event until May 2022 , in response to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 . The fenestration industry ’ s flagship UK event will return to the NEC from Tuesday 10 - Thursday 12 May 2022 . The announcement follows delays to the easing of COVID restrictions across the UK , a rise in UK cases , lack of clarity regarding restrictions for large-scale events and ongoing disruption to international travel .
FIT Show event director Nickie West comments : “ It ’ s always our priority to
run a safe and successful event for our audience . The sharp rise in positive cases , coupled with the ongoing ambiguity surrounding what restrictions would need to be in place by September , created too much uncertainty .
“ We have worked closely with our stakeholders and the NEC to create a new timeline that we believe is both safer , and provides greater certainty for the market .
“ By postponing until the Spring of 2022 we believe that the majority of the UK will have been vaccinated , supply chain issues will have started to ease and we will be able to return to large scale events .
“ I remain steadfast in my belief that no other platform can compete with the power of live events
when it comes to connecting brands with the market . It has never been an option to flip FIT Show to virtual , it just would not deliver what our market wants and needs - face-to-face interaction , and to see , touch and compare all of the latest products side-by-side .”
“ We will , however , be delivering our CPD approved learning programme virtually in September as a key touchpoint in our campaign , to engage with our FIT Show community between now and May .” The majority of the brands who signed up to exhibit at FIT Show 2021 will move over to the postponed May 2022 timeline . The new dateline will also present a more secure proposition for brands who may have been hesitant to exhibit in September . Following
the postponement , FIT Show will maintain its biennial frequency , returning for its scheduled dates in May 2023 onwards .
Nickie added : “ As always , we are committed to running a safe and successful event for the industry when we return in May 2022 . FIT Show will follow Fensterbau , making it the first UK flagship event to reconnect the market .
“ I ’ d like to sincerely thank everyone who has demonstrated such resilience , determination and loyalty during these most challenging times . Your support is what FIT Show is built on .
