20 | SEPTEMBER 2019 News Sport SMART TECH TO BE BIG TALKING POINT ‘RACE YOU TO THE TOP’ Legendary athlete announced for Glazing Summit The Managing Director of the UK fenestration market’s leading hardware distributor has said that smart technology will be the big topic at the 2019 Glazing Summit. With the agenda now revealed, Sam Nuckey of Window Ware is delighted that smart technology will be part of the debate on the future of the glass and glazing industry. “The big topic will defi- nitely be around smart tech,” commented Sam, “and we’ve already seen that become a hot topic across the industry as new products are being brought to market and they are definitely more focussed on the fabricator rather than just purely and primarily for the consumer.” The Glazing Summit takes place on Thursday, 12th September at Edgbaston Stadium and Conference Centre, Birmingham, with more than 400 fabricators, installers and suppliers expected to attend. Andrew Scott, the founder of the Glazing Summit and CEO of glazing industry specialists Insight Data and Purplex Marketing, com- mented: “The future of the glass and glazing market will have a number of key drivers and the main one will be smart technology.” Which new products are likely to spearhead growth and profit? What impact will smart technology have on the industry? How do fabri- cators and installers evolve to meet the challenges? All these questions will be answered and more. Former Olympic 400-metre runner and World Championship gold med- allist Roger Black MBE is the after-dinner speaker at this year’s Glazing Summit Leaders Dinner. The legendary ath- lete is one of the most thought-provoking and entertaining motivational speakers around thanks to his knowledge of moti- vation and self-develop- ment. Thanks to his achieve- ments of being part of the gold medal winning 4x400 relay team at the 1991 World Championships and winning an Olympic 400 meters silver medal in 1996, Roger understands the dy- namics of becoming a cham- pion and how to perform under pressure. In 14 years at the high- est level, he won 15 major championship medals, in- cluding European and Com- monwealth gold medals, and is one of the country’s most successful athletes. After his athletics career finished, he made the suc- cessful transition into televi- sion presenting, working on BBC Sport and co-present- ing Tomorrow’s World and the BBC’s award-winning City Hospital. The Leaders Dinner brings together around 250 senior leaders in the glass and glazing and takes place on the evening of the Glaz- ing Summit. Andrew Scott, the founder of the Glazing Summit and CEO of glazing industry specialists Insight Data and Purplex Marketing, com- mented: “We are delighted to welcome Roger Black. By combining his experience of self-motivation and attaina- ble personal development, both on and off the track, he has motivated organisa- tions around the world.” The Glazing Summit and VIP Leaders Dinner will be held on Thursday, Septem- ber 12, at Edgbaston Stadi- um and Conference Centre, Birmingham. Delegates are welcome to attend the Glazing Summit, the Leaders Dinner or both. www.glazingsummit.co.uk www.glazingsummit.co.uk DECEUNINCK AND VBH CO-HOST ‘BEST YET’ CUSTOMER GOLF DAY Deceuninck and VBH co-hosted their annual customer golf day at the Bowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort in Wiltshire this summer.
