Reassuringly compliant , so let them know about it
Icotherm has opted to partner with a new Approved Inspector ’ s firm , announces Anne-Marie Busch , Marketing Manager . This is not a decision that was made lightly she emphasises , but taken with customers in mind .
“ We need to work with an organisation that is prepared to go the extra step to ensure our roofs are appropriately checked when installed , and Ball & Berry Ltd can provide just that ,” explains Anne-Marie .
The aim of certifying a roof system for building control compliancy is a twofold solution :
1 . The systems house wants to ensure their roof is up to the task , whilst providing you , the installer , with a solution that will make your work easier when getting your installation building control approved .
2 . The other important role of the compliancy certification and having a roof registered is to give the homeowner the reassurance that their roof is a genuine product . Ball & Berry Ltd will do this for us ; as part of the application process they will check the original Icotherm paperwork and register the roof reference , allowing us to double check it is indeed a roof we have manufactured .
“ This protects our customers against competitors claiming to use a high specification roof like Icotherm ’ s when in fact they are not . It also protects Icotherm ’ s product and brand by ensuring only genuine products are sold under our name .”

At the risk of stating the obvious , 2020 has been somewhat unusual . Icotherm , just like the rest of the businesses in the industry , felt the lockdown hard . Complete shutdown , unpaid orders , completed roofs on hold , furloughed staff .
It was all the more frustrating as the year had started on a high . We had a full order book and several projects on the go to help support the company ’ s effort to improve brand awareness and product availability : website , video , identifying potential fabricators , certificates of origin , installer network ….
But , as it turns out , solid roofs quickly became a product high on homeowner ’ s wish lists . With so many people either having to work form home in makeshift ‘ office
areas ’, with conservatories not usable if temperatures fluctuate , a flurry of enquiries started to come through . So much so that , once satisfied we could operate safely , we re-started production in May .
Word quickly got round and within a few short weeks order levels were such that our lead times jumped from 10 days to nearly double that …
It has become evident to us that the choice of a timber system is becoming more prevalent , which no doubt has been reflected in the steady increase of new business registered . The fact that we offer what we believe is the best performing and easiest to install solution on the market today is of course going to be a key factor as well
We are currently witnessing an interesting turn around against aluminium in favour of timber from companies that have been promoting aluminium since their inception , and this is further validation that our message and our product is the right one for the market .
As the end of 2020 approaches , we are slowly catching up with our projects and will be launching our new website in Q4 . In addition , our POS literature has gained some new product cards to support installers selling our full range of roof style ( Icoroof – pitched , IcoView – Hybrid , Ico600 – low pitch , Icospan – flat ).
