‘ON THE PULSE’ - GGFI BEST PLACED
FOR THE GLAZING SECTOR
The perfect blend of financial expertise and glazing know-how.
In many respects, one of the
unique strengths of GGFi is their
position within the fenestration
industry. Not only do they share an
office with the Glass and Glazing
Federation (GGF), the leading trade
association within the glazing sec-
tor, but GGFi is also located in the
heart of the UK’s financial markets.
This places GGFi in an enviable
place with access to the best of
both of the worlds in which they
operate. As a provider of quality
bespoke insurance in the glazing
sector with access to the industry
knowledge and technical exper-
tise of the GGF, helps GGFi gain
a thorough understanding of their
clients and their needs.
When running a glazing compa-
ny numerous challenges can arise
such as, changes in the technical
and regulatory landscape as well
as problems that can occur with
egories of people supplying free
business apps on the web:
• One-person developers that
are doing it as a hobby.
Because of limited resources,
these apps are nearly always
sub-standard. And in time, the
developer gets a serious job,
moves on, gets married (i.e.
gets a life) etc. In other words,
eventually you end up with an
orphaned app which will stop
working at some point. That’s
not good for a business.
• Those using the “freemium”
business model. The free app
is the hook, then after a while
they will work as hard as
they can to get you using the
paid version. Without people
using the paid version in large
numbers they will go bust. So,
over time the pressure to start
paying will keep on increas-
ing.
That’s why you should always
be prepared to pay for business
apps. It’s better to know where
you stand from day one. That
way you know that what you are
using is going to be maintained
and there are people around
to support you when things go
wrong. It’s your livelihood, which
is something you shouldn’t gam-
ble with.
The final word
In the last few decades com-
puters have invaded one industry
after another. Part of what they
have done is got rid of paperwork.
Since paperwork is the bane of
many installer’s lives, it’s time to
take the plunge if you haven’t
already made it.
Does it take time, effort and
money? Yes, but that will pay off
big time. We have thousands of us-
ers of our app and we have loads
of testimonials of people whose
business lives have been hugely
improved as a result. I promise,
you won’t regret it.

suppliers and manufacturers.
As industry experts, the GGF’s
ability goes above and beyond;
therefore, GGFi can call upon
this wealth of knowledge to help
them provide better support to
their registered businesses and
their policy holders.

LONGSTANDING SPECTUS
FABRICATOR SWITCHES
TO EPWIN GLASS
Trade fabricator Universal Trade Frames has
just switched to purchasing its glass from Epwin Glass.
Managing Director Brian Kruger said: “As a longstand-
ing and loyal Spectus fabricator it made good sense to
buy our glass from the same business as our profile
supplier. Epwin Glass has seen considerable invest-
ment in their business and we were very impressed
with their product range and quality of their offer.”
By sourcing its glass from Epwin Glass, Universal
Trade Frames will benefit from the quality and relia-
bility an Epwin brand brings, something Brian knows,
having been a Spectus fabricator for over 20 years. He
commented: “Being a Spectus fabricator plays a big
part in the success of our business because our cus-
tomers recognise what the Spectus names means and
the value it adds.”
Universal’s decision to switch to Epwin Glass makes
it one of an increasing number of fabricators making
the switch: a further nineteen customers have joined in
the last three months alone.
