“ THE ONLY WAY IS HUP !”

Tony and Liesel inherited an old conservatory when they moved into their home and felt that at around 20 years old , it had seen better days . As part of a large-scale renovation project on their home , the couple decided to transform their conservatory into an energy efficient , new extension using the hup ! system – and are absolutely delighted with their decision .
The couple explained : “ We had a vision when we set about transforming the conservatory and that was that we wanted a modern open plan space that would connect with our kitchen and allow us to enjoy our garden without being in the garden .
Before >
After >
It was important to us that the new space was energy efficient , because as part of our home renovation project , we installed solar panels , and so wanted to ensure that this energy efficiency / environmental focus was also carried through into our new extension . “ Our builders , Fairway Construction , told us about the hup ! system and it seemed the perfect solution for our project . We loved how when we were discussing design options , we could put new walls , windows , and doors wherever we wanted on top of our existing base . Our builders explained that had we built the new extension from bricks and mortar , the new walls would have been too heavy for the existing
base . This meant we would have had to create a new base which would have added considerably to the cost . We chose a solid wall against our boundary wall , a gable style tiled Ultraroof with huge skylights , picture windows in the gable end , and
bi-fold doors opening onto our garden .
“ When it came to the build it was very quick to take down the old conservatory and then we were amazed that the new hup ! was built in just over four days . The speed of the transformation was quite incredible .
“ Our new extension is now everything we dreamed of . It ’ s a beautiful modern room that is open plan to our kitchen , making the whole space very family orientated . We love all being together when cooking , entertaining etc and the amount of light
in the extension and the kitchen is fantastic . On the outside we chose render so that the new extension ties in perfectly with the rest of our home and we are delighted with how it looks , both inside and out .
“ When hup ! came along there was an absolute trust right from the start that this was going to be a fantastic product from start to finish and we ’ re really , really happy with it , in fact , it ’ s been life-changing . The only way is hup !”

Delivery Service Keeps Problem Vans Off The Road

Figures released by Direct Line business insurance last month confirmed there are nearly 4.5 million vans on British roads , a record high since data started being collected in 1994 and representing a 37 percent increase in the last decade . With those vans responsible for the fastest growing source of CO 2 emitted from transport in Europe – accounting
for 13 percent of road transport carbon pollution and creating 14 percent of nitrogen oxides ( NOx ) emissions in cities – we need to see a swift , significant move towards zero emission vans to meet Europe ’ s climate neutrality objective by 2050 .
NBP ’ s delivery fleet of 65 vehicles across four depots – based in Birtley , Hinckley , Bolton and Leeds – include specially extended
vehicles that can transport up to six metre lengths . This means its thousands of building products can be simply ordered online , any time up to 10pm , and delivered direct-to-site the next day . The speedy and seamless service is free , with no minimum order value , and means NBP ’ s customers save valuable time navigating traffic to get the materials they need , while also saving
money on costly fuel and city transport schemes , negating the emissions they would otherwise create in their regular van dropoffs and pick-ups .
“ Our customers are as eco-conscious as we all need to be in 2023 , but they also need to get the job done , sometimes to tight deadlines ,” explains Stephen Jones , Sales Director of Northern Building Plastics . “ Our customers don ’ t have to venture out in their van , as they can get their products delivered directly to site , which not only saves them time , but also helps cut down on emissions and saves on fuel .
“ That ’ s why our large fleet and next day delivery service has proven to be so valuable to our customers , who no longer add to the pollution problem by sitting in traffic for large portions of their days .
“ As well as the number of delivery vehicles we have , our rapid service is also down to the high levels of stock we keep at our four depots . We don ’ t have to order anything in before we ship
because everything is already on the shelves , ready to be loaded onto our delivery trucks .”
It ’ s no wonder vans are hitting headlines as a thorn in the side of the global initiative to go green , emitting almost twice the nitrogen oxides of the average car , and NBP ’ s large fleet is keeping them off the road for unnecessary trips every day .
After opening its first depot in 2010 , NBP has also successfully rolled out its super depot model , strategically placed to cover the whole of the North and the Midlands .
