We have always aimed to show homeowners something they can’t get anywhere else and that’s just what Silka can do for us – there really is nothing else like it.” Qualitere already had no fewer than 18 Apeer composite doors in its extensive Nottinghamshire showroom, but Martin decided Silka was going to be the star of the show and immediately set to moving his existing top-seller from the prime position to make way for the new Silka door in its flagship Anthracite finish. Martin says the Apeer composite door range has always been a fa- vourite with customers, with many commenting on how much warm- er and quieter they are. Silka, with its smooth skin finish is aimed not only as a price competitive alternative to aluminium but also as a statement in its own right, as well as being a perfect match for Apeer’s radical Lumi and Lumi2 window systems. The range, which is also avail- able to order through Apeer’s online configurator, Doorbuild- er, comes in anthracite grey, light grey, black and cream, and includes eight door styles with a choice of six stainless steel and two all glass glazing trims, plus four more bespoke design options. www.apeer.co.uk 200 SPECTUS FLUSH TILT & TURN WINDOWS FITTED IN HIGH PROFILE SOCIAL HOUSING DEVELOPMENT A former depot in Southgate Crawley, the 22 houses and 22 flats were situated in a high-profile location and aesthetics of the development was vital. Architecturally, a contem- porary interpretation of the Craw- ley Borough Council ‘new town’ style was specified, with mainly brick elevations, using a palette of three colours, and windows with reconstituted stone surrounds on the buildings at the entrance to the site. Spectus Flush Tilt & Turn Win- dows were specified with Spectus Approved Window Contractor Jade Window and Door Specialists appointed to manage the fabrica- tion and installation of the 200 an- thracite grey windows the project required. The flush, urban modern ap- pearance of the windows deliv- ered the aesthetics required. The tilt and turn functionality ensured safety and practicality across all the buildings, but in particular the two and three story blocks of flats. The development was situated near several busy roads, which meant acoustic glazing was re- quired on some elevations. Jade Window and Door Specialists worked closely with project con- tractors to ensure the windows’ glazing met all the standards required. With 200 windows needing to be installed on a busy construction site, effective project management was essential. Jade Window and Door Specialists liaised with the project contractors and all trades on site to ensure window fabrica- tion and installation ran smoothly. www.spectus.co.uk HERITAGE TRADE FRAMES PRAISES PROFILE Longstanding Profile 22 fab- ricator Heritage Trade Frames switched to Optima when Profile 22 launched the system in 2016.
