FORE! HUNDRED POUNDS
RAISED FOR CHARITY
Independent Network (powered by VEKA) has hosted another
fantastic golf tournament, giving members the chance to have
fun, speak to other like-minded fabricators and installers, catch up
with the IN team and raise some money for charity in the process.
VEKA Group’s Head of
Partner Programmes Karen
Lund explains: “Here at Inde-
pendent Network, we know
that meetings don’t need to
be held in the board room to
be valuable. We encourage
all our members to join in
with a host of social events
that allow them to have fun
while learning from each
other and the IN team at the
same time.
“This year’s IN Golf Tour-
nament was held at Telford
Golf and Country Club
and followed the theme
from our latest Members’
Weekend; celebrating the
Rain doesn’t ‘stop play’
for Turf Moor Sleepout
A wet and windy October
evening saw three VEKA Group
Directors take part in the first ever
charity Sleepout event held at
Burnley FC’s Turf Moor ground.
The event raised £28,000 (and
counting) for the three chari-
ties involved; Burnley FC in the
Community, Emmaus Burnley and
Jane’s Place, with £3714 of that
coming directly from VEKA spon-
sorship.
VEKA Group Marketing Director
Dawn Stockell took part, along
with Sales Director Neil Evans and
Finance Director Graham Fitton.
Dawn said: “I’m proud that the
event raised so much valuable
funding for the charities involved.
The weather was horrendous on
the day of the Sleepout, but rather
than call it off or postpone the
event, everyone was determined to
make it happen.
“I think the wild weather
conditions, due to Storm Callum,
actually made the whole event
even more poignant, considering
very ‘Best of British’, which
is exactly what our member
companies represent with
their commitment to quality
and service.
“We welcomed 35 golfers
(of mixed ability) and had
a great time, networking,
golfing and enjoying a
drink or two before the
day’s awards presenta-
tion.”

vulnerable people and victims of
homelessness in Burnley. For us it
was only one night, but many peo-

League side Barwell FC.
Founded in 1992 as a merger
between Hinckley and Barwell
Athletic, The Canaries finished
ninth in 2017-2018, and have
already got the 2018-2019 season
off to a promising start with two
wins and a 1-1 draw.
But regardless of how they
perform this year, the team will
at least look the part, with a new
kit emblazoned with the Edgetech
logo.
Edgetech Managing Director
Chris Alderson explains the ra-
tionale behind supporting David’s
footballing endeavours.
“Cleartherm are a hugely val-
ued and long-standing Edgetech
customer – they were one of the
companies we marked a ten-
year anniversary with last year
while celebrating a decade of us
manufacturing in the UK – and
this is just a small way of saying
thank you to David for all his
support.”
