WORKERS RAISE £ 19,000 FOR CHARITY IN A MONTH

Employees at BAM Construct UK- one of the UK’ s largest property, construction and facilities management companies – have raised an incredible £ 19,000 for children and young people’ s cancer support charity CLIC Sargent.
They stepped, cycled, kicked, bounced and ran their way through Childhood Cancer Awareness Month to achieve the feat.
Hundreds of workers across the country got involved to show their support and raise vital funds for children and young people living with cancer.
Highlights during the month included:
• BAM bikers across the regions cycling 3,910 miles and raising £ 10,844 in sponsorship
• Employees taking 7,079,004 steps as part of a sponsored‘ 60-Mile Step Challenge,’ raising £ 2,200
• 96 colleagues from across the UK took part in a football tournament in Leeds, raising £ 5,000
• A team from head office took on the 12k Bear Grylls challenge, which involved eating meal worms, to raise £ 500
• Another BAM team took part in the world’ s longest inflatable challenge, raising over £ 1,000
Many other individuals and teams took part in other challenges for the awareness month in September. Some chose more personal fundraising activities. For example, Anya Weaver, a personal assistant from Northampton ran 5k in memory of her niece Naomi who had a brain tumour, and sadly passed away ten years ago aged two.
BAM Construct UK chose CLIC Sargent as its new charity partner earlier this year and has pledged to raise £ 100,000 over the next two years. This huge total could pay for CLIC Sargent to provide more than 4,000 hours of support for young cancer patients and their families.

GRANGE SPONSORS FUTURE FOOTBALL STARS

Fencing and decorative garden structures supplier, Grange Fencing, has been doing its bit to support the football stars of the future with its latest sponsorship initiative.
To give something back to the company’ s local community, Grange has selected three youth football teams from in and around Telford to provide with much-needed sponsorship.
Earlier this month, the team from Grange visited the Broseley Youth Sports Under 9’ s team to watch them play and present them with their new hoodies. Grange has also provided full home and away kits to the Wrekin Juniors Under 9’ s team, and will be sponsoring the Broseley Youth Sports Girls team with a new full kit early next year.
Adam Jones who helps to run the Broseley Youth Sports Under 9’ s team commented:“ We try to operate our club by passing on as little cost to the parents as possible so, thanks to the sponsorship, we hope this will allow many children the opportunity to play.”
Mark Morris, Marketing Manager at Grange, commented:“ As a company, we are coming up to our 150th anniversary next year and with our roots firmly based in Telford, what better way to celebrate than to give something back to the local community?”
