The British Safety Council has announced the winners of this year’ s Sword of Honour and Globe of Honour awards. The honours are given for exemplary management of health, safety and environmental risks by businesses around the world. |
There were 57 Sword of Honour and 15 Globe of Honour winning companies.
Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, said:“ The winners of the awards are‘ the best of the best’ performers in health, safety or environmental management worldwide. They have not

only achieved five stars in the British Safety Council’ s independent health and safety and / or environmental management audits, but they have also demonstrated to an independent adjudication panel that they had a proven track record and culture of best practice in health and safety or environmental management.”
The winning organisations came from a wide range of industry sectors in the UK, mainland Europe, India and the Middle East, including construction, manufacturing, and transport.
The winners will attend a luncheon at Drapers’ Hall in the City of London on 24 November.

THE LIVES OF TWO BRIANS When the Glass and Glazing Federation( GGF) celebrated its 40th anniversary at the annual GGF Members Day, the occasion proved extra special for two long-serving GGF members.
Brian Baker( former GGF president and interim chief executive) and Brian Waldron( chairman of the GGF standards committee) have been recognised for Outstanding Service to the GGF.
Brian Baker said:“ I had planned to retire a few years ago but when I am asked to
help out, it seems I just can’ t refuse. I would like to thank everyone for all their help over the years.”
Brian Waldron added:“ I remember the GGF when it started in 1977, in small rented offices at Mount Row in Mayfair, and I am pleased to have been part of its incredible success over the last 40 years. I will continue to be involved with the GGF as maintaining the highest technical standards is of paramount importance in our industry.”
