Taking Top Spot
Glazerite Windows Limited and golf just seem to go together. Aside from sponsoring Wellingborough Golf
Club’s yearly PGA (Midlands) competition, which this year took place in July, and its sponsorship of pro golfer
Ryan Evans, the industry-leading PVCu trade manufacturer recently held its inaugural customer golf day.
Taking place September 25th at Wellingborough Golf Club,
the winning team on
the day was Network
VEKA member Chaucer
Installations. Made up
of Rick Sanders, Steve
Crawley, Steve Hammond and Martin Annis
they finished the day
on 96 points beating
out close competition
from City Glass Manchester and The Glass
Factory.
Chaucer also dominated
the individual scores; Steve
Crawley was the day’s best
player with 40 points while
Martin Dalton (Technicopy
Solutions) and Steve Hammond (Chaucer) finished
joint second with 38 points
each.
Starting the day off at
10am with a coffee and bacon roll, nearly £4000 was
raised for The Encephalitis
Society - VEKA’s charity of
choice for 2015 after Mark
Barsby (Head of Technical)
was diagnosed in 2014
– through entrance fees,
hole sponsors and a charity
auction superbly hosted
by snooker player Willie
Thorne.
Proving to be a resounding success, John Hewitt,
Managing Director of
Glazerite, said: “It was a
fantastic day had by all that
was topped off by raising a
considerable sum of money for a great cause. We
couldn’t have done it without the help of the PGA,
Wellingborough Golf Club,
those that donated auction
prizes and of course our
customers, we thank them
for their continued support.”

Turton FC to kick off
new season in style
Renowned for their love of
football, the team at Total
Glass was only too happy
to help Lancashire’s oldest
club, Turton FC, with the
refurbishment of its clubhouse that has enabled the
amateur players to kick off
the new season in style.
The Liverpool-based PVCu fabricator supplied five Total Glass
Composite Doors and 14 PVCu
casement windows. These were
fitted by its installer customer and conservatory supplier,
Premier Conservatory Supplies,
whose Managing Director Peter
Gray is also Chairman of Turton
FC.
Now the 144-year-old Bolton
club is hoping that its improved
facilities will contribute to a
turnaround in its fortunes in the
coming season, having lost out
on promotion due to its facilities falling short of FA ground
criteria.
Despite investing £90,000 on
the required improvements, the
club’s request for an extension
to complete these in time for the
new season was turned down.
League officials ruled Turton
would not be allowed to compete
in the West Lancashire League
Premier Division this season after
failing to meet the March 31st
ground development deadline.
The club’s petition appealing
against the decision attracted
more than 3,000 names, including TV presenter Vernon Kay.
Peter explains: “Having been
devastated by the league’s
decision, we were extremely
grateful to Total Glass for its
kind support,” he says. “This was
unexpected - although I knew
what football fans they are – and
its help was most welcome. The
new facilities now look fantastic.”
He adds: “The improvements
couldn’t have been carried out
during the season as it would have
damaged the pitch and caused
other issues, so they were completed over the summer. Thanks to
Total Glass and everyone who has
supported us, we are on the road
to promotion again with our first
fixture in early September!”
