FIT’S A CERT!
One visitor in every five converted into a
sale and ten new accounts within days; it’s
little wonder that DOORCO was quick to
book a return to the FIT Show in 2016.

Ronald McDonald House
System 4-35Hi+ Parallel
Opening Vents (POV) windows are among a suite of
Metal Technology Products
installed in Ronald McDonald
House, Glasgow.
Ronald McDonald House serves
the Royal Hospital for sick Children in the city, providing ‘home
from ho me’ accommodation
enabling families to stay close
to their children. The Keppie-designed project was a winner at
the 2015 Glasgow Design Awards.
The 1,940m2 scheme features
three brick buildings connected
by glazed corridors and reflects
the need for a calm, secure and
homely environment.
Part of Metal Technology’s THERMAL range, the System 4-35Hi+
POV window achieves high levels
of thermal performance by utilising specially designed polyamide
thermal break profiles, thermal
gaskets and foam profiles. The
parallel opening vents offer a
unique feature that, when open,
allows air to penetrate around its
entire perimeter, facilitating highly
efficient ventilation and increasing
air flow by almost double to that
from a standard top hung casement window. This is achieved
without compromising security,
creating a comfortable yet safe
environment.
Thermal performance was maintained throughout the scheme
with the use of THERMAL System
5-20DHi+ doors, which offer a
wide range of options from standard lever/ lever operation to single
and double panic gear and electric
release. All have achieved full PAS
24 security.
The buildings feature pod glazed
openings utilising not only System
4-35 POV’s but System 8 low rise
curtain walling, highlighting how
Metal Technology’s range of products offer the designer
engineered, cost-effective solutions through design flexibility
whilst maintaining structural integrity, weather performance and
thermal enhancement.

“With that kind of success from the first two shows,
there was never any doubt that we’d be back next
year,” said MD Dan Sullivan.
“We went to the first event to showcase our major
new venture into prepped composite door slabs, as
well as our new in-house painting facility, and by the
end of the show 20% of all our visitors had signed up
to the range.
“At the second show, we launched three new
door designs, as well as our new brand identity. We
opened ten new customer accounts immediately after
– every one of them from people we had met at the
show.”
He continued: “Both of these were important developments for DOORCO, especially the move into
prepped slabs, which was a major diversification for
us and we’re pleased to say both FIT Shows delivered
the results we needed. They played a real part in the
success of these products as well as the company’s
growth overall.
“At FIT 2016, we will not only be featuring a number of product innovations but also new customer
service initiatives and we are looking for the same
kind of results the third time around.”

THE WAY FORWARD
Phoenix Doors, part of MASCO UK Window Group, says
demand for its double-rebated composite door range
has risen in recent months
due to increased awareness among fabricators and
installers for a high-end
product from a dependable
manufacturer.
“Since the successful launch
of Meridian, our new high-performance 70mm double-rebated
composite door, we have been
amazed at the uptake from customers wanting a high quality

crucially, from a sustainable supplier,” comments Haydon Statham,
Phoenix Doors’ Sales Director.
He points out that its newest,
premium addition to an already
comprehensive composite door
range represents a ‘significant widening of choice in the competitive

doors are the way forward; we’ve
been surprised at how many people are seeking this twin rebate
concept that helps to open up
‘delivers outstanding
weather, energy
and acoustic

the ‘door to new opportunities’
alongside our traditional 44mm
