NEW BROCHURE
FOR HOMEOWNERS
Halo has unveiled a stylish
new brochure promoting the
innovative FlushSash window
system and explaining its
benefits to the homeowner.
The glossy new literature details the many
features of this PVC-U
window system which
sits flush within its
frame, mirroring elegant window styles of
the 19th Century.
Photography throughout
the brochure shows how
the FlushSash is particularly
suited to heritage applications but would also suit
modern buildings which
require an understated level
of style and sophistication.
Mark Barsby, The VEKA
UK Group’s Head of Technical explains: “The FlushSash
has been designed to offer
an elegant, yet energy-effi-
cient window solution for
heritage homes. With the
look of traditional stained
or painted timber, the
FlushSash needs little or no
maintenance and will look
virtually indistinguishable
from the property’s original
windows.
“The FlushSash will provide a cost-effective solution
to a range of problems associated with historic homes:
energy-efficient, five-chamber PVC-U frames with
double or triple glazing will
ensure period properties
are more weatherproof and
draughtproof. Homes will
be warmer, with lower heating bills and the FlushSash
will also prevent condensation forming while significantly reducing unwanted
outdoor noise.”

BIGGER, BETTER, BUSIER…
As the eighth Grand Designs Live Birmingham
closed its doors at the NEC once again Media 10,
the prestigious events organisers, celebrated its
most successful show to date, with more than
64,356 (subject to ABC audit) visitors, a 28%
increase from 50,049 (ABC audited) in 2012, and
500 exhibitors, affirming its position as the UK’s
top contemporary home show.
As excited visitors gathered to enter the 2013 event, show
host Kevin McCloud was on hand to greet their arrival,
before cutting the ribbon and declaring the 2013 show officially open. The show’s footprint expanded by 15%, taking
over two halls.
Exhibitors were also delighted with the show’s success.
Caroline Mills, Product Manager for Anglian Home Improvements commented: “This was the first time that we have
exhibited at Grand Designs Live Birmingham and we had a
phenomenal response to our products. The footfall was exceptional – our Timber Orangery in Grand Build was filled
with visitors from the moment the show opened. The show
attracts visitors who are actively in the market for improving their homes, which is a great fit for our products and
services. Overall Grand Designs Live 2013 has been a great
success for us.”
Grand Designs Live will return to London at the ExCeL
Docklands from the 3rd – 11th May 2014.

Eco green energy
scheme is key in
solving high-energy
bills and saving lives
As the Government has
announced a review into so
called green energy taxes
and the clearest indication
that some may be cut, the
National Insulation Association (NIA) highlights that
green energy schemes such
as the Energy Company
Obligation (ECO) are key to
lowering domestic energy
bills and that the savings can
far exceed the associated
costs.
The Energy Company
Obligation (ECO), which
provides free and subsidised
energy efficiency measures,
adds just £47 a year to the
average energy bill. The NIA
advised: “The savings available to householders through
installing energy efficiency
measures can far outweigh
this cost.
“In addition there are other
benefits to be derived from
the scheme, for example, it
is the only scheme to ensure
that those at risk and in
fuel poverty receive energy
efficiency measures thereby
reducing cold related excess
winter deaths, the security of
energy supply and job creation. The ECO also contributes towards climate change
targets.”
