Barnsley-based D&I
Window Solutions has won
its first ever Network VEKA
award – and that’s on top
of the company expanding
into new premises.
D&I joined Network
VEKA in the autumn of
2016 and has now taken
first prize in the ‘Best New
Member’ category – along
with joint winners North
Lakes (NLG Window
Systems) from Penrith.
The companies attended
the industry prize-giving
ceremony in Warwick this
month.
D&I was founded in 2010
by David Saxon and Ian
Haddock after the two men
were made redundant from
their local authority posts.
Pulling together their com-
bined 45 years of experi-
ence in the fenestration in-
dustry, the business started
with just a single window
frame and has gone from
strength to strength ever
since.
D&I Window Solutions
is now anticipating that
its move of premises from
Summer Lane in Barnsley
to a larger unit at nearby
Barugh Green will allow it
to raise productivity by at
least 50%, as well as launch
its own trade counter.
The business offers
frames, composite doors,
windows, conservatory
roofs, patios, bifolds, and
vertical sliders.
David explained: “We
came from nothing when
we started out. We had a
really small unit but then
outgrew it in 18 months.
We’ve been trading for sev-
en years in total and were
at our unit on Summer
Lane for four years, but
have now outgrown it.
“We operate in retail,
trade, commercial and
domestic, and we manufac-
ture and install using VEKA
profile. Retail-wise we have
done really well and have a
small showroom at Bramp-
ton near Barnsley. Howev-
er, we were struggling to
service the trade in the way
we wanted to from where
we were and have much
more space at the new site
in Barugh Green.
“It’s a good unit which has
been completely refurbished
– it was actually tough to
find it - and we believe we
can up productivity by at
least 50% at this site. Going
forward, we are looking at
offering trade customers
marketing support and of
course we can help them
become Network VEKA
members. We are looking for
at least ten new trade cus-
tomers out of our area.”
He added: “Working

and VEKA, we can offer
A-rated windows and high
security doors which will
give not only the best in
energy efficiency, but also
look great and enhance any
property.”
