Launched at The FIT Show at Telford International Centre by Russell Day, GGF Technical Officer and Mark Hanson, Chairman of the GGF Conservatory Association, the new guide includes the latest information reflecting the changes in the legislative and regulatory landscape. The Conservatory Association, through its technical working party, originally produced the publication as a good practice guide for companies selling, designing, specifying and installing conservatories. It was revised in January 2012 as regulations and legal requirements changed. Throughout 2015, the Conservatory Association worked consistently and meticulously to ensure the new guide was launched in the first quarter of 2016. Russell Day commented:“ Since 2012, there has been a modest increase in the number of glazed extensions being built. The proportion of standard, Building Regulation exempt conservatories now represents a significantly lower percentage of these structures. The new guide addresses the
New website marks West End Windows milestone West End Windows has started the next episode in its 40-year history with a new website.
The Bristol-based fabricator of PVCu systems from The VEKA UK Group is a family-run company started by Bill Carr in 1975. It dealt solely in aluminium windows until 1979, when the ever-increasing popularity of PVCu systems lead it to diversify. Bill’ s son, Garry, took over the business in 1989 alongside his wife Pauline, and now their daughters Karen and Laura also play leading roles in the company. Sales and Marketing Manager, Karen Carr said:“ Besides showcasing the huge range and quality of home improvements available from West End Windows, our new website truly marks a milestone for the company, and we’ ve made sure it does justice to our story so far. First A ++ Rating For Dungannon Specialist trade fabricator Dungannon Window Company Ltd has been awarded the UK’ s first-ever BFRC A ++ rating for a PVCu vertical slider. The company also achieved the lowest ever U-Value for the style, at 1.0 W / m ² K. Dungannon’ s double achievement for its Eurosash Superior Triple 1.0 PVCu window opens major new domestic and commercial markets for the vertical slider style. The low U-Value even brings the window within reach of Passivhaus standard in some buildings. The window, developed in association with Spectus, uses 28mm Krypton-filled triple glazing with twin Thermobar spacers and mixed thermal and steel reinforcing, along with Eurosash’ s own 12-part sealing system for dramatically reduced air leakage. Dungannon Director Gary Givans says the vertical slider is still growing in popularity in all parts of the industry, and at the same time customers are demanding more and more energy efficient windows. He said:“ Now, for the first time, they can have both – and without compromise.” He added that the company could still have gained the A ++ label with a window U-Value of 1.1 W / m ² K but said:“ We believe both the U-Value and Passivhaus are becoming more significant so we decided to go the extra mile. It took a lot of hard work to get there, and with a lot of support from Spectus.” The Superior Triple 1.0 is the latest big step in Dungannon’ s 17-year evolution of its Eurosash window, which has included other milestones including the first ever‘ A’ Rating for a PVCu vertical slider with Spectus. It also comes as the Co Tyrone company prepares to celebrate 30 years in business.
