Oakland Glass has invested in new Bohle Vacuum Lifter as the average size of units has dramatically increased due to demand in bi-fold doors .
Managing Director Amanda Falsey says : “ With home improvements soaring even before the pandemic and new work-from-home culture , the average size of glass unit has been on the up .
“ Glass is a precious commodity and we have been working hard to ensure internal waste is reduced , which means that the handling of glass in-house and during transportation is of paramount importance .
“ Even more important is our ongoing commitment to improving our Health and Safety practices . Larger glass units are very heavy and can be difficult to
manoeuvre . We decided in invest in a Bohle Vacuum lift , which attaches to our existing overhead crane .
“ Overall , the investment is a tri-fold success , it makes handling glass easier which is better for the
team on the shop floor , it improves internal practices which is better for our customers , and in turn positively impacts their own customer service .”
