INSULATE THE INSTALLATION

Technologically advanced foam sealant tapes for improved window installation and insulation performance will be showcased on the ISO-CHEMIE stand( L30) at The FIT Show.

BRUSH UP ON FIRE AND SECURITY REGS

Fire and security are covered by regulation. However, not everyone in the supply chain knows what is covered, is able to specify and / or supply appropriate products and materials, and most importantly, install and commission the fire protection or security installations correctly. This can be a real problem of knowing who or what to use on a project.
Third party certification- certification of appropriately tested and technically assessed products and competent installation companies- offers ways to address this.
Product certification requires companies to demonstrate processes and procedures for the design and control of manufacture to maintain the conformity of the product. It must match that which was proven by test or assessment to afford the fire protection required.
Installer certification requires companies to demonstrate processes and procedures for the design, selection, procurement and satisfactory installation. Certification can be used to verify that which is specified in the fire or security strategy has actually been delivered to site and installed correctly.
There are also schemes for‘ enhanced security products’ which satisfy the requirements of police‘ Secured by Design’ for security doors and glazing.
For example, IFC Certification is able to certify products, installer companies under their UKAS accredited schemes and also provide Quality Management System certification to ISO 9001. IFCC also offers an independent site inspection / survey service as IFCC is also a UKAS accredited inspection body.
IFCC are also a‘ notified body’ so can carry out Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance
( AVCP) works to support companies wishing to CE mark their products. Despite the Brexit vote, this is still essential if a supplier wants to supply in UK and Europe.
All of this means that end user clients can have confidence in selecting products and services correctly provided and installed which will perform as specified and deliver the quality required.
IFC Certification experts are inviting visitors to come and talk to them at the FIT Show if any of the following apply:
• What has fire safety got to do with me?
• Why do I need third party certification?
• Who can I ask about Security Product Certification?
• Can IFCC deliver certification promptly, by someone who will talk through the requirements and how best it can be provided?
ISO-CHEMIE’ S ISO-BLOCO WIN2WALL multi-level sealing tape will feature among other products including ISO-BLOCO One. These provide innovative and longer lasting solutions for standard PVCu windows and advanced U Values as well as compliance with Passivhaus standards for more demanding projects.
The firm’ s ISO3 WINDOW SEALING SYSTEM, based on the European RAL principle of three level sealing, offers an external seal providing weather resistance and breathability, while the intermediate seal provides extra thermal and acoustic properties, and the internal layer meets air tightness and humidity requirements. All three levels are designed to accommodate any movement between the adjacent construction materials.
Andrew Swift, national sales manager for ISO-CHEMIE, said:“ BS8213-2016 compliant tapes alongside the GGF’ s guide to window installation and the demand for installed windows with matching energy rated gaps, combine to provide installers with an added value sales package.”
