some of the management responsibilities with managing director Bradley Gaunt and helping to develop business strategy and support the growth of the bi-folding door, lantern roof and conservatory roof manufacturer.
“ Since my first introduction to Made For Trade I could see that the ethos of the business and the drive to move forward is present across all departments,” said Chris.“ It’ s clear that they have really concentrated on development over recent years to keep at the forefront of manufacturing and I am very much looking forward to becoming part of the team and helping shape the company’ s future.”

of Chris as business manager ensures that the management team is reinforced to support the continued growth.”
He continued:“ Chris’ s experience across the engineering and manufacturing industry fits in well with the company’ s future plans and complements the development work we have been putting into our new in-house design and engineered Korniche aluminium lantern roof.”
The Korniche features parts that click or fix together seamlessly, with no trimming or cutting of any profile required on site, allowing for a super-fast installation. Made For Trade recently built a 3m x 1.5m Korniche lantern in under 30 minutes with very few tools required.
In addition, all fixings are hidden and the slim unbroken sightlines allow for sleek,

contemporary aesthetics. The lantern is fully thermally broken to give the lowest U-values and also features an innovative secure all-in-one glazing lock and retainer.
Made For Trade, which supplies the Visofold 1000 aluminium bi-folding door and Global conservatory roof as well as the Korniche lantern roof, has seen a huge increase in demand in recent years.
The business is now spread over three sites in Teesside and employs over 80 staff. Last year also saw more CNC machines and delivery vehicles being added to improve efficiency and keep up with demand.

GLAZING FRAUD CONVICTION
The Glass and Glazing Federation( GGF) was disappointed to see a recent news story in which Glassworks Ireland- not a member of the GGF- had sold ordinary glass as fire resistant safety glass and failed to supply numerous buildings with the correct specification of glass, putting lives and property at risk.
In response to the article, Steve Rice, GGF director of technical affairs commented:“ This news and the subsequent prison sentence clearly shows the importance for all companies in the fire resistant glazing sector to ensure the specification, supply and installation of fire resisting glazing is provided at the correct level of protection for people and property. The GGF through its Fire Resisting Glazing Group( FRGG) promotes, develops and champions the application of best practice in the use of fire-resistant glazing systems with a recognition of their responsibilities in ensuring fitness for purpose in the event of fire.
“ The occurrence and development of fires in buildings can be unpredictable and uncertain, and its effects can be catastrophic for both life and property. The FRGG provides a centre of expertise within the industry bringing together recognised experts involved in all stages from design, manufacture, specification through to installation.”
The GGF’ s‘ Guide to Best Practice in the Specification and Use of Fire-Resistant Glazed Systems’ and‘ Standard for: The Specification, Supply and Installation of Fire-Resistant Barriers containing Glass’ ensure those involved with designing and implementing fire strategies within buildings can obtain the correct products,

which includes the glass, the glazing seals, glazing beads, fixings and frame, which all need to be compatible under fire conditions and that the relevant test evidence is obtained. These publications can be found on the www. ggf. org. uk.
GGF Training also runs courses in Fire Resistant Glazing for companies in the sector. For more information visit www. ggftraining. co. uk and register your interest.
