Adam is an electrician by trade and wanted to come up with a new way of preventing tool theft from vans, something he had seen very frequently when he was working away. He approached Andrew, a business development manager, and together they designed the ToolShield system. The pair say ToolShield is a SECURITY DOOR HANDLE UNVEILED Hardware specialist VBH has unveiled the Alpha 2-Star security door handle set as the latest addition to the greenteQ range. When used in conjunction with a 1 star rated profile cylinder the handle enables manufacturers and installers to provide a 3-star rated solution to BSI Kitemark TS007. The greenteQ Alpha 2-Star handle has been successfully test- ed to TS007 in conjunction with the greenteQ Q-Star 1 star profile cylinder. the perfect partner ‘ for the Q-Star TS007 ’ VBH marketing manager Gary Gleeson says: “We’re delighted to add Alpha 2-Star to our prod- uct portfolio as it is the perfect partner for our Q-Star TS007 profile cylinder that has proved so popular since we launched it last year. Customers have been eagerly awaiting its arrival so they can fit an all-greenteQ TS007 solution.’ The handle is available in anthra- cite grey as well as the five core greenteQ Suite finishes. VBH advise that this makes it ideal for many of the grey doors that are becoming more popular, including PAS24 rat- ed Clearspan bi-fold doors. unique system - there is nothing else like it on the market. It is essentially a bulkhead security door that can be installed in the side and rear doors of vans. It is made from hardened steel and it is designed to delay thieves as much as possible from breaking into the vehicle. It successfully achieves this through the follow- ing factors: • The hinges on each system are concealed and encased in their own armour - they can- not be tampered with • The door itself is defended by three layers - it is cladded at the front and the back with a hardened steel plate and an internal lattice is encased in there. Even if somehow a thieve broke through the first layer, the lattice prevents anyone from reaching in and stealing the contents of the van. • The doors have minimal weight gain – the Pro System weighs 67kg for both the side and rear door and the Tool- Guard System weights 47kg • It will take up to 20 minutes for anyone to break through the doors with hand tools – more than enough time to raise the alarm. ToolShield manufactures two grades of systems – the first being a heavy duty one called the Pro System. It is popular with people who work away a lot and have to keep their van in high risk areas. The frame is a 40 x 40 box section and is a heavier system. The sys- tem retails for £999.99 plus VAT – this includes the side door and the rear. The ToolGuard system is a lightweight system, for those who work more often in their local area. The frame is 25 x 25 frame and is much lighter than the Pro System. It retails for £489.99 plus VAT – this includes the rear and side doors. The prices also include fitting at the company’s Burton on Trent workshop. www.toolshield.co.uk
