Makita has introduced a new operating mode with the
launch of the latest 18v brushless motor impact driver.
The Makita DTD170 impact
driver is technically a six-function
impact driver, with four speeds
and matched impact power, plus
the T-Mode which is used for
tightening self-drilling Tek screws.
The new A-Mode (Assist-mode)
when selected, starts the rotation
slowly allowing maximum control
of the screw as it starts to bite into
the material. Once the impact driv-
er detects the screw tightening it
switches to full speed and full im-
pact power to complete the tight-
ening sequence. The A-Mode is
designed to eliminate ‘screw cam-
out’ and ‘cross threading’ caused
by high speed rotation before the
screw bites in the material.
The new Makita DTD170 gener-
ates a massive 175 Nm maximum
tightening torque with four impact
speeds and power stages ranging
from soft setting of 1100 rpm and
1100 impacts per minute, through
medium and hard setting levels up
to a maximum of 3,600 rpm and
3,800 ipm.
The Makita 10.8v CXT tool range
now features the TD111D brushless
impact driver, which delivers an
outstanding 135Nm of tightening
torque, and weighs just 1.1kgs with
an overall length of only 135mm.
The TD111D will deliver up
to 3,900 impacts per minute in
high-mode with capacity to drive
home an M14 bolt. This compact
machine also features the latest
A-mode impact operation. In
addition, the TD111D has the var-
iable speed trigger, electric brake,
soft grip handle and LED job light.
With performance like this the
10.8v CXT range is proving at-
tractive to all property installation
professionals.
Makita’s innovative brush-
less motor design substantially
enhances the performance and
longevity of the tool. It reduces
friction within the motor,
releasing greater power from the
engine. The reduction in motor
friction consequently extends
the runtime available from the
battery and is also responsible for
generating less heat. This bene-
fit further extends the longevity
of the tool and the battery. The
remaining benefit is a reduction in
maintenance with no brushes to
be changed during the life of the
tool.
