21 YEARS OF PARTNERSHIP

After 21 years of quality window and door fabrication in Coventry , U-Fit is celebrating the milestone with a new brand and name - Armstrong Industries .
Since its inception in 1996 , Armstrong Industries has been fabricating PVCu window and doors using Synseal ’ s best-selling Shield profile , later also adopting the sculptured ovolo Syner- Jy profile to offer maximum choice to their customers . More recently the fabricator has also become a
distributor for the high-end Masterdor Craftsman range of timber doors , which have been well received by customers demanding a long-lasting engineered timber door which won ’ t rot , flake or warp .
John Armstrong , managing director at Armstrong Industries , said :
“ It ’ s quite a milestone these days to achieve a trading relationship of this duration . There aren ’ t many businesses in this industry that can say they have been around as long as 21 years , and even fewer who can say they have been working with the same supplier throughout that period .”

EFFORTLESS STYLE FOR 1930S HOME

Profile 22 installer Max Glass has completed an impressive installation of Optima windows and patio doors in a 1930s home in Leeds . Stephen Hobson , Max Glass ’ s director , says : “ Our customer lived in a 1930s home and they wanted to maintain its period looks . The brief we had from them was that the new windows and the leading needed to replicate the original designs so they would not look like replacement windows .”
The project was a sizeable one : in total five three-sided bay windows , nine casement windows , four arched top windows and one sliding patio door needed to be replaced . Stephen recommended
Optima from Profile 22 for the job . With a white foil finish inside and out and square leading , the windows would bring a heritage look while the Window Energy rating of A and the low maintenance finish would ensure they had all the advantages of 21st century technology and innovation .

Phil will help GGF grow

GGF staff and members have welcomed Phil Pluck as the new chief executive of the industry ’ s leading trade body .
Phil started his new role on 2nd May and is still settling in but was pleased with his first few weeks commenting : “ Not coming from the industry , it has been a whirlwind few weeks and I am still very much in the middle of a learning curve . One thing that is becoming
quite clear is that we have a strong and experienced team in place , delivering a high level of service to our members , but there is of course always room for improvement .”
With a background of successfully growing membership organisations , Phil added : “ My aim is to grow GGF membership , but
to ensure that we recruit quality companies into membership . It is imperative we retain the high standards the GGF has built up for the last 40 years .”
Optima is an incredibly versatile system and it has a huge range of ancillaries and add-ons to enable windows in every style and to suit every property type to be manufactured . But while its looks are diverse , at its heart it is a system designed for the modern home with optimal
thermal performance and rigidity thanks to its six- chamber outer frame and five-chamber sash construction .
The windows and door were manufactured by Profile 22 fabricator Heritage Trade Frames in Bolton and installed by the Max Glass team in just one week and the end results are stunning . Stephen comments : “ We are delighted with the results , as are the homeowners . They had recently renovated the property to an extremely high standard and the windows were the final touch needed . They now have an aesthetically pleasing home that ’ s more energy efficient and easier to maintain .”
