DOUBLE WHAMMY FOR
BRISTOL INSTALLERS
Atlas is marking the first anniversary of its ‘Atlas Installation of the Month’
competition with the announcement of a double win for one of its top installers.
Entries have been
coming in every month
for the competition
which was launched a
year ago to honour the
best Atlas orangery,
conservatory and roof
light installations. Atlas has announced 13
winners so far and has
now crowned Mendip
Conservatories as the
first to win, not once,
but twice, in the March
competition.
The first winning entry
from the Bristol-based
installer was a replacement
conservatory on a 130-year
old mock castle in Bath,
which housed a well-established grapevine. Mendip
worked closely with the
technical team at Atlas to
create a robust and inviting
conservatory to replace the
original timber structure
which was on the verge of
collapse.
Providing a fitting setting
for the grapevine, the new
specification includes a
white aluminium Atlas conservatory roof and white
PVCu wood grain windows
from Atlas’ sister company
Customade.
The second winning entry
- to replace a poorly constructed conservatory with
a smart wraparound extension - was the biggest and
most ambitious project that
Mendip had ever undertaken. Mendip developed
a bespoke window system
which was complemented
by an Atlas roof system.
Both the windows and roof
were finished in a traditional Ral colour - Stone
Grey 7030 - to contrast
with the traditional style
property.
Kim Eyres, owner of
Mendip Conservatories,
said: “We are on a mis-
‘Every month, an installer will scoop
a £200 Screwfix voucher and a £50
Majestic Wine voucher, trade industry
PR, plus entry into the award finals’
sion to win in this year’s
Installation of the Year
awards so we’re absolutely
delighted to have won a
double award for two very
different projects. Both
of them were complex
and challenging and we
worked together with the
Atlas team to make them
successful installations.”
Berkshire-based Thames
Valley Windows scooped
the winning prize in February for a contemporary
orangery on a 1920s mock
Tudor property in Maiden-
head. The original timber
conservatory made way for
an orangery which featured
a dark grey aluminium
Atlas roof. The open plan
living and kitchen area was
finished off with bi-folding doors to seamlessly
connect the indoor and
outdoor spaces.
January’s winner was
Tamworth-based Bradley
Scott Windows for its grey
on white Atlas lantern on
an ultra-stylish kitchen
extension in Staffordshire.
The homeowner had
considered PVCu for the
lantern and approached
Bradley Scott Windows for
advice.
Andy Farrington, owner
of Bradley Scott Windows
says: “Since becoming an
Atlas installer a year ago,
we have fitted 15 Atlas
roofs and we have orders
for another two Skyrooms.
No one else offers a product quite like this and it
has given us the edge over
our competitors.”
Gareth Thomas, Sales
and Marketing Director at
Atlas Glazed Roof Solutions, added: “We have
been overwhelmed with
the volume of competition
entries and the very high
standard of lantern, leanto, orangery and Skyroom
installations.”
Every month, an installer
will scoop a £200 Screwfix
voucher and a £50 Majestic Wine voucher, trade
industry PR, plus entry
into the award finals where
one overall winner will
be chosen as the coveted
Atlas Installer of the Year
at a red carpet gala event.
All entries receive an
Atlas thermal mug when
entering their completed
installation pictures.
Atlas is urging even more
installers to show off their
striking Atlas installations
across the full spectrum of
its conservatory products,
which includes orangeries,
lanterns, conservatories,
verandas, Lean-Tos and the
Skyroom.
Entrants can submit their
