National Fenestration
Awards In Full Swing!
It took a little while to get there, say the organisers, but all parts of
the National Fenestration Award are now live! This means that every
category is now ready to accept your nominations, the Cool Wall
continues to run well and the Top 30 People’s awards is also now live.
Just in case you missed it, a
couple of weeks ago the NFA
team launched its attempt to
find the very best people in
the industry. They wanted to
take it one step further than
the traditional Top 30 Most
Influential we are used to
reading every year. So they
put an NFA spin on the idea
and expanded it into three
new groups:
• Top 30 Newcomers
• Top 30 Under 30
• Top 30 Over 30
The idea is that splitting up
the award into three categories
will result in a more diverse and
accurate representation of people.
The ethos behind it is to include
as many different people and recognise the hard work they do and
what they contribute to the wider
industry.
Below is now the full and final
list of all live categories ready to
have your nominations:
• Social Networker 2014
• Hardware Company 2014
• Young Person 2014
• Glass Systems Company 2014
• Systems Company 2014
• Composite And Panelled Doors
2014
• Steel Company 2014
• Timber Company 2014
• Aluminium Company 2014
• PVC Company 2014
• Digital Specialist 2014 - NEW!

Director Jason Grafton-Holt says:
“With three new categories this
year, we believe we are representing even more of our diverse and
exciting industry than we did in
our first year. I hope you will all
make the most of this opportunity
to reward some excellent companies in our new categories.
“Also, I want to give a quick
mention about sponsorship and an
event we are planning for the end
of this year’s competition. We are
constantly listening to feedback
and opinion as to how people
wish to see this year’s NFAs finish
to a climax. This sometimes means
changing our initial plans and
ideas as we go along to make sure
we make the very best of what we
have.
“So after a recent meeting we
began working on a fresh idea
that to all our minds has never
been done before. It is something
we are VERY excited about and
something which we think you’ll
all be very excited about too. We’ll
be telling you much more about
it soon, and showing you how
you and your company can get
involved on a sponsorship level.
“We all hope that you’ll continue
to support us in our journey in
the UK fenestration industry. And
remember, if you haven’t already
nominated, do it now so you don’t
have to get them in at the last
minute!”
‘it is something
that we are VERY
excited about’

One In 10 Would Hire A
Handyman To Put Up A Shelf
Britain has a reputation as a nation of DIY
enthusiasts and home improvement lovers.
However, whether or not people are still as keen
to rely on their own DIY skills as they once
were is under question, following new research.
According to a study conducted for mortgage and secured
loan brokerOceanFinance.co.uk,
more than half (57%) of UK
adults would pay a handyman to
do some or all of a number of
relatively straightforward jobs
around their home.
One in 10 (10%) of those questioned
said they would pay someone to put
up a shelf. Other fairly simple jobs
respondents admitted they would pay
a professional to do include bleeding a
radiator (9%) and assembling flat pack
furniture (7.4%).
Of those willing to fork out to get
odd jobs around the house done, the
task they were most likely
