‘ PRINT AND PUBLISH ’ NOT ENOUGH ANYMORE

Clearview – big brother to Pro Installer – has overhauled its social media and added Instagram and Facebook to its online offering ; to coincide with its inaugural charity golf day , the publication of its first every Building Regs supplement and the first of its two Summer issues for 2022 ( Clearview and Pro Installer both publish a July and an August printed edition , whereas other industry titles only send out one for the two months ).
Steve Sidebottom , Clearview Director , explained : “ There was a time when once-amonth , 12 times a year , was enough instalments to get all the industry insight to our 14,889 subscribers ; and when it wasn ’ t , we introduced Clearzine ; the weekly e-newsletter that goes into 14,000 inboxes every Monday .
“ By speaking to people at Glazing Summit , FIT Show , customer open days , and our own recent charity golf day , we were reminded that open and honest discussion , two-way communication and even some good-humoured comments between friends , are much needed .

FENSA Celebrates 20 Years with 15 million Certificates

FENSA is proud to be celebrating its 20th anniversary with 15 million certificates now issued by the government-authorised scheme that monitors building regulation compliance for windows and doors .
Lis Clarke , Operations Director of FENSA says : “ FENSA was established in 2002 as the first Competent Person Scheme for the window and door installation industry to improve installations , professionalise installers and protect homeowners .
We believe we are now the most widely recognised competent person scheme having issued 15 million certificates .

DHF applauds new fire safety legislation and guidance

Post-Grenfell legislation will ‘ raise the bar for safety ’
On the fifth anniversary of the Grenfell fire tragedy that claimed 72 lives , Door & Hardware Federation ( DHF ) welcomed the announcement that cladding of the type used on Grenfell Tower is to be banned from use on any building in England . In addition , the Tamworth-based trade association has welcomed The Fire Safety ( England ) Regulations 2022 , that come into effect on 23rd January 2023 , whereby flat entrance fire doors are subject to annual checks and those in the common parts of High-Risk Residential Buildings ( HRRB ), require quarterly checks . DHF has been a long-standing advocate of the critical role that fire doors
play in saving lives and protecting property and has continued to stress that the use of fire doorsets .
“ We believe this is a long time in coming , but there are a number of benefits for our members and the industry ,” explains DHF ’ s Head of Commercial Operations , Patricia Sowsbery-Stevens .
“ Most importantly , this change will ‘ raise the bar ’ for safety across the sector . For our members , they are ready to embrace this change as many will be supplying the new complete fire doorsets to the installation companies , the components of which will have been tested together .
“ The announcement brings together the ‘ golden thread of information ’ referred to
maximise on our longevity in their own marketing . Installers are already proud to display the FENSA brand , but this landmark gives us all a new angle to promote the benefits of the scheme .
“ We have moved premises twice in our 20-year history in 2009 and 2016 , to allow us to continually grow our team and stay ahead of the increasing popularity of FENSA . 2019 saw our first TV appearance to further support the FENSA community by educating homeowners to the benefits of having their installations registered by FENSA .
“ As the drive for energy efficient products increases , the importance of proving compliance with all the most up to date Building Regulations will only become more important . The passionate team at FENSA are committed to supporting the industry through these changes and any new challenges we must face in the next 20 years and beyond .”
