APEER ANNOUNCES £ 500K MACHINERY INVESTMENT DURING MAYOR ’ S VISIT
Factory expansion equips Central to meet growing demand
With demand for home improvement products continuing to rise , full solution fabricator Central Window Systems has expanded its manufacturing facility by a further 8,500 square feet , bringing them to a total of 52,000 square feet .
“ The factory expansion gives us the capacity to manufacture around 1,500 frames per week , which has been vital in keeping up with growing demand ,” comments Central Window Systems CEO Gary Morton .
The increased capacity has also provided more storage space , meaning Central is able to keep more stock and cut lead times to a minimum , ensuring customers get what they need , when they need it .
In addition to a factory expansion , Central Window Systems has implemented a second shift to accommodate for the increased demand .
“ This has allowed for more flexibility to increase capacity levels – as a company we are putting in more hours , without overworking our production team ,” Gary explains .
“ There are several factors working in our favour – one is the stamp duty deferral which means homeowners have more money to spend on home improvement products , and the second is the rise of working from home . Thirdly , in the wake of Covid-19 , the government is looking to stimulate the economy with infrastructure , meaning we will be able to land more commercial contracts .
“ All of this equates to increased demand , and thanks to our recent factory expansion and the introduction of a second shift , we ’ re confident we ’ ll be able to keep .”

Apeer has announced another sizable investment in machinery for 2021 , during a site visit by the local council ’ s Mayor to see the factory ’ s latest extension and to hear about the business ’ s continuing successful growth and recent workforce expansion . The Mayor requested the visit to see first hand what is now one of the largest manufacturing businesses in the area . Among the machines now set to be installed in the newly expanded plant as part of this latest investment are a 5-axis CNC router , a second 4-head seamless welder , a 4-axis CNC machining centre and a ceramic roller robotic cleaner . Industry-leading integral blinds manufacturer Morley Glass and Wakefield-based B & P Windows have teamed up to reduce their carbon footprints further by supplying all post-consumer glass products to Morley Glass to be put through their on-site glass crusher .
Since 2019 , Morley Glass has been accepting post-consumer glass and IGU products for their glass crusher which sits at their Leeds site . To date , the company has reduced their CO2 emissions by a staggering 135,504kg . That

B & P Windows , based in Wakefield for 40 years , have made huge efforts to ensure that all post-consumer and office-based waste is recycled and that nothing goes into the ground . All their old PVCU , timber and aluminium frames are recycled and have been for a long time . The company also uses a dedicate skip service provided by Wakefield council that ensures anything doors safely after lockdown , we ’ ve seen unprecedented demand for our composite doors and Lumi windows as people who have spent so much time at home now look to upgrade their homes with the best in craftsmanship and builtto-last quality .
