CHECKATRADE AND FIX RADIO
ANNOUNCE NEW PARTNERSHIP
Checkatrade, the UK’s leading online trade directory, has today announced a new
commercial partnership with Fix Radio. Having launched in April 2017, Fix Radio, the
trade-focused radio station has grown its listenership across London and Manchester via
DAB and web audiences and now has over 40,000 tradespeople tuning in every week.
The deal will see Checkat-
rade sponsor the station’s re-
vamped breakfast show, presented
by ‘Ugly Phil’ who has previously
worked at XFM, Kerrang!, Kiss
and triple M. The appointment of
Phil O’Neil represents Fix Radio’s
ambitious growth plans and with
the support of Checkatrade, they
aim to continue engaging over a
million tradespeople each week
across all of its media platforms,
including the successful Trades-
men Banter social media chan-
nels.
Beginning on June 10th, lis-
teners of the breakfast show will
hear Checkatrade’s quest to find
the hardest working trade, “the
Checkatrade chart”, as voted for
by Fix Radio’s listeners. The deal
comes as a part of Checkatrade’s
own ambitious plans for the trade
directory as it looks to encourage
more tradespeople to join the ser-
vice while continuing to innovate
and improve their support for
their current membership base of
over 30,000 registered, vetted and
trusted tradespeople.
Speaking on the deal, Mike
Fairman, Chief Executive Officer
at Checkatrade, said: “With a loyal
and trade-orientated listenership,

PREVENTING HEAT BUILD UP WITH STYLE AND PERFORMANCE
Ultraframe has an-
nounced the launch of its
new slimline roof vent. Not
only does the new roof vent
offer a striking contempo-
rary look, the new design is
also thermally broken and
has been engineered for
long lasting performance.
Explaining more about
the new vent, Ultraframe
Design & Development
Director, Andrew Thomson,
said: “Many installers are
reluctant to add roof vents
into a conservatory, but as
hotter weather continues in
the UK, they are increasing-
ly important and are one of
the fastest ways of ventilat-
ing a conservatory during
the warmest months of
the year. Our new slimline
vent fits perfectly with the
new contemporary styles
of conservatories that are
becoming more and more
prominent in the market-
place.”
Featuring a powder coated
aluminium sash as standard,
along with the option of
aluminium internal claddings
on the Ultrasky roof and Ul-
trasky Lantern, the new vent
is thermally broken to en-
sure optimum thermal per-
formance and boasts a PVC
welded frame to eliminate
any chance of leaks. Weather
baffles and a built in internal
drainage system also ensure
maximum protection from
the elements.
Explaining further about
the new roof vent, Andrew
continued: “By incorpo-
rating the best features
of a rigid powder coated
aluminium sash and a fully
welded, chambered and
thermally efficient PVC base,
we’ve ensured that the new
vent will provide protection
against the elements. Its
old counterpart comprised
many parts which provided
more opportunity for the
vent to fail in terms of leaks
and so when designing the
new one; we’ve created a
welded PVC frame to elim-
inate this issue. The new
vent is also a dry product
unlike the old one which
relied on silicone for assem-
bly, and could look unsight-
ly if not applied perfectly.”
The high quality powder
coated paint finish on the
new roof vent is available in
white as standard with any
other RAL colour available
on request. An optional
electric motor sits unobtru-
sively within the vent rebate
and can be controlled auto-
matically or by remote con-
trol for multiple vent zoned
applications. As with all
Ultraframe products, fitter
friend-
liness has
been designed into
the product and the new
vent is simple to glaze with
no beads, offering an attrac-
tive finish and higher securi-
ty. Fully tested, the new roof
vent is severe rated when
tested to BS5368 Parts 1 &
2; BS6375 Part 1 2009.
The new roof vent is
available from mid-July.
