DRILLING TAKES ANOTHER

RECOGNITION
When you ask Swish

installers what they
like about the Epwin
Window Systems brand,
the answers come
back loud and clear.
er/inventor talks about its part in drilling
technology historically, and celebrates its
recent launches since inventing drills many
years before. FEIN UK also discusses a
brand new product launch for the cordless
rotary hammer drill.
FEIN started innovating in the late 19th
century combining the power of an electric
motor with a manual drill to develop the
world’s very first power tool. The heavy
drill, which weighed 16.5 pounds, was
powered by a large but relatively weak DC
electric motor that didn’t turn very fast. The
world’s first power tool may seem unwieldy
and unproductive by modern standards, but
it was the beginning of FEIN’s 150 years of
power tool innovation, having re-developed
the electric drill on multiple occasions in
that time.
Last September that innovation led to the
launch of 10 new cordless drill/drivers. The
ASCM 12 and 18 represent the hero ma-
chines of the ten. Offering 4-speed capabili-
ties, ‘Power Drive’ settings, quicker changes
of accessories for application work, and
supported by a new battery range.
FEIN then took the next step of add-
ing more machines, launching a
new cordless mag drill in
September and now, in
the UK, Fein is proud
to launch its new rotary
hammer drill - the ABH 18.

The system has a unique smooth
appearance that makes it stand out in the
market and gives Swish customers a clear
competitive advantage. But it isn’t just the
good looks that give a competitive advan-
tage – it’s the brand recognition too. Swish
is a brand that’s recognised by 7 out of 10
homeowners, which gives installers a head
start when selling the system.
Of course, the Swish system delivers more
than just good looks and brand recognition.
It has all the credentials that are needed to
deliver on expectations. The Swish window
system is ideal for casements, Tilt & Turn
and French windows. It can be used for
internally or externally glazed styles and for
almost any size or shape of frame. Swish
door profiles are specially designed for the
job and have the same sculptured shape as
the windows for an immaculate and consist-
ent finish to any installation

Wide soffit just got
woodgrained!
Freefoam Building Prod-
ucts are delighted to an-
nounce the addition of four
beautiful woodgrain finishes
to its Wide 605mm Soffit
Range. The wide General-Pur-
pose Board is becoming a
popular choice on many con-
temporary house styles and
has been added to the range
as part of Freefoam’s continu-
ing support of our customers
servicing the Housebuilder.
The Freefoam woodgrain
range is manufactured to
last using marketing leading
Renolit Exofol MX foil that
features Solar Shield Technol-
ogy, a technology to provide
built in UV protection, to
reduce heat absorption, tem-
perature build up and expan-
sion. These properties allow
Freefoam to offer a ten-year
guarantee on all woodgrain
fascia and soffit.
Colour for external PVC
products such and windows,
doors, balconies, fascia and
guttering has been one of
the major style changes in
the new build market in
the last five years. House
builders are increasingly
using colour to bring style
and definition to develop-
ments and utilising colour
elements as a cost-effective
way to add a contemporary
feel to house and apartment
developments.

ing systems supplier VEKA Group
know that seemingly small chang-
es can have a BIG impact.
A new upgrade to the Imagine
Patio Door means that a simple,
yet innovative locking kit can
ensure the Door meets all the
requirements of PAS 24. This
cost-effective lock solution creates
additional appeal for consumers
– especially in the new build and
commercial sectors – and makes it
a valuable addition to any VEKA
Group customer’s sales arsenal.
Marketing Director Dawn Stock-
ell explains: “When choosing a
partner for this technical project,
VEKA turned to the experience of
ERA to help develop the upgraded
lock.
“Instead of a tricky and un-
sightly add on - like a plunge bolt
- together, we designed a simpler
means to achieve PAS 24 and
compliance with Doc Q thanks to
a lock kit that is contained within
the workings of the door.
“Ultimately, this makes the
system simpler to fabricate, much
easier to install and more attrac-
tive to the end user as a finished
product.”
