PRESIDENT
Linda CIarke, marketing and digital
director at Hull-based MKM Building Sup-
plies, has been named as Barclays Yorkshire
Business Woman of the Year 2017.
The accolade was part of Barclays
Celebrating Yorkshire Women in Business
Awards 2017. Linda received her honour at
Bowcliffe Hall in Wetherby and won in the
Woman of the Year Large Business (turnover
over £50million) category.
The awards recognise women and
businesses that have made an outstanding
contribution to business in the Yorkshire
and Humber region. Guest speakers at the
ceremony included Rachel Reeves MP and
author of Alice in Westminster and York-
shire-born adventurer, writer and speaker
Lauren Beth Morton.
Debbie Mullen, Barclays corporate head
of Yorkshire said: “Women from all sectors
across Yorkshire are securing key roles in
larger companies and we wanted to recog-
nise exceptional achievements for the con-
tribution they are making. The applications
were all exceptionally good and the judges

“My immediate tasks are
right up front.
We must recruit the right
team to support the excel-
lent head office team, and
recruit a new director to
lead the guild, a new mar-
keting manager and a new
membership officer.
“We must also contin-
ue to invest in the GAI’s
online Education Hub and
support and develop the
internationalisation of the
guild and our growing
membership overseas,
particularly in the face of
an increasingly globalised
construction regulations
