A 10,000sqft
purpose-built
factory is
erected on the
Grimethorpe
Church
premises.
Sash UK continue to be a leading fabricator of quality
PVCu window and door products, contributing an
astonishing 50 years of service to the industry. From
the early days of two young men working from a garage
in South Yorkshire to the opening of new premises,
showrooms and a new company, the business is ecstatic
to have achieved ‘50 years of Excellence’.
It all started between
two school friends...

Sash UK stops making timber
windows and moves its glass
and aluminium operations from
South Kirby to Grimethorpe.
1981
The Company is renamed Sash UK,
which stands for Specialised Aluminium
Softwood and Hardwood products.
1972
1972
Terry and Ron buy St Patrick’s, a derelict
church in Grimethorpe, to serve as a joiner’s
shop and office. The Company is renamed
Sash UK, which stands for Specialised
Aluminium Softwood and Hardwood products.

Ron Bean and Terry Morrell start up
in business together under the name
‘Bean and Morrell’, working from Terry’s
garage to make timber windows, door
frames, skirting boards and architraves.

The Company takes out a
15-year lease on a 5,000sqft
factory in South Kirby to
house the manufacture of
PVCu windows (Gardinia),
aluminium frames
and sealed units.
1988-92
Various retail showrooms
are opened around Yorkshir
in Rotherham, Barnsley,
Castleford, Doncaster
and Huddersfield.
