CONTINUED QUALITY FOCUS TO EXCEED END-USER EXPECTATIONS

Ian Short , Managing Director , Morley Glass
The market was more restrained during 2023 , following the post-pandemic home improvement boom – very much as the industry was expecting . But that didn ’ t adversely affect our sales , our short term plans or our longer term growth ambitions .
The highlight of the year for us was winning a G23 Award for our post-consumer glass recycling scheme . Receiving this high profile recognition
was powerful in raising the issue of what the industry does with end-of-life IGUs higher up the agenda .
I think we will see many more installers looking to recycle glass units in 2024 rather than throwing them into landfill – not only because it is the right thing to do from a sustainability perspective , but also because of the potential to save significant amounts of money on waste disposal costs .
We expect to see sales growth in particular for the exciting new products we launched at the 2023 FIT Show . Our new Screen-
Line ® integral blind for flat glass rooflights , along with our exclusive new Uni- Blinds ® Venetian colours , have already attracted strong interest in line with changing homeowner tastes – something that is also at the heart of our plans for 2024 .
Whatever market conditions unfold over the next 12 months , we will stay focused on the longer term , which means exceeding expectations through the quality and service we offer . This is crucial because it means our customers can have peace of mind that the integral blind units
they are fitting will exceed end-user expectations – and they know we are always there with aftersales support to assist should any issues arise in future .
We will continue to develop our approved installer network and increase the volumes of post-consumer glass we collect and crush through our recycling initiative to fund many more local good causes . A number of new products are also under development which are set for release from March onwards .

ENERGY EFFICIENCY WINDOWS IN SPOTLIGHT FOR YEAR AHEAD

Fire doors will continue to be a big player for us going into 2024 , but uPVC windows will really come to the fore .
Howard Trotter , Business Manager , Shelforce
We have seen the demand for more energy efficient windows rise across all archetypes and our order book is showing that this will continue to be a steep curve .
The recent announcement from the GGF that UK homes are the worst in Western Europe for heat loss , with 98 % of windows currently not meeting current building regulations , and some 80 million windows need to be replaced if the UK hopes to meet the government ’ s net zero targets , means energy efficiency will continue to be a big issue , not just for Local Authorities but within private homes .
We posted a record turnover last year of just under £ 6million and thanks to fire doors and uPVC windows we are on track to hit a record turnover again , with conservative estimates at around £ 9million , and we are currently having conversations with other Local Authorities to see if we can supply them with fire doors and energy efficient windows .
We received the King ’ s Award for Enterprise in Promoting Opportunity ( through social mobility ) in April , which was a huge honour for everyone at Shelforce , and that has provided us with several exciting opportunities for 2024 too . So , 2024 is going to be busy for us , and should see more growth .
