Launch of Nexus XI elevates support system

Ibstock Kevington , the UK ’ s largest brickwork special shape and masonry fabrication company , and leading masonry support brand , Ancon , have launched Nexus XI – a new , mechanically fixed brick-faced support system and lintel range - to further enhance the already popular Nexus offering .
Nexus XI is both BBA accredited and NHBC approved . Its ‘ A ’ Fire Rating means it can be specified and installed with confidence on high-rise residential buildings over 18m , in compliance with the recent amendment to Approved Document B of the Building Regulations – a critical consideration in the wake of stringent fire safety legislation introduced post-Grenfell .
The launch of Nexus XI builds on an existing , successful association between Ibstock Kevington and Ancon , which saw the launch of the first generation Nexus brick-faced support system five years ago . The Nexus range makes the creation of flawless , brickfaced soffits easier than ever before . Combining specially developed Ibstock Kevington lightweight brick-faced steel unit with the tried and tested Ancon MDC stainless steel bracket angle support system , Nexus provides an easy-to-install , aesthetically pleasing alternative to traditional cast concrete solutions .
Among the key benefits of the system is its lightweight design which , when compared to traditional precast concrete alternatives , sees weight cut by
more than half – making it easy to handle and ensuring it can be installed quickly and without the use of specialist lifting equipment .
Indeed , ease-of-installation was front of mind during the Nexus XI design process , with the system utilising the same installation process as the existing Nexus range . This means clients can enjoy the additional benefits of a mechanical fix system without the need for installers to adopt a new installation method .

STAYING SAFE , LOOKING GREAT WITH TUFFX

An elegant building requires an equally elegant safety glass solution – which is exactly what toughened glass specialists TuffX recently supplied to a residential complex in Scotland .
The client required fifteen Juliet balconies to provide both unobstructed views and unrivalled safety from multiple storeys of windows . TuffX supplied 17.5mm toughened clear glass in varying sizes , with a perfectly aligned finish and brilliant polished edge , to fulfil the brief .
The result are stunningly unobtrusive balconies , providing not only great views from the inside looking out , but also a barely-there high-end addition to the outside of the building . The finished balconies complement the stonework façade in a minimalist , modern manner , without imposing on the building ’ s original beauty .
Great views are coupled with maximum safety – with the glass providing high-fall protection for the large windows , which can be opened up completely to bring the outside in on good days . When the weather turns , the view from the closed windows is equally unimpeded , with the toughened glass ready to stand up to whatever the elements can throw at it .
