QUICKSLIDE COINED AS
CALDERDALE BUSINESS
OF THE YEAR 2019
For any business, win-
ning an award and receiv-
ing recognition for your
efforts is a humbling expe-
rience. When the awarding
institute comprises of those
right on your doorstep,
representing fellow local
corporates, the accolade
is undoubtedly even more
so.
Celebrating a double win
of precisely that nature
is Yorkshire-based manu-
facturer Quickslide. The
Calderdale Excellence in
Business Awards – held
at The Arches, Halifax
in November – brought
together a cross section
of companies in a lavish
evening of home-grown
acknowledgement. Contra-
ry to assumptions that the
home improvement sector
is at the mercy of Brexit
and Government uncertain-
ty, Quickslide’s popularity
within the industry was
prominently recognised,
with an announcement as
‘Overall Business of the
Year 2019’; having already
secured the ‘Large Business
of the Year’ award earlier in
the evening.
Quickslide’s Chairman
Adrian Barraclough said:
“The awards are a
magnificent achievement
for the company and
huge endorsement for our
philosophy of valuing our
staff, suppliers and custom-
ers equally. Our installers
represent Quickslide on
the ground, and it is crucial
that they understand how
their professionalism and
work ethic contributes to
the achievement overall.
We strive for recognition
at this level to in part, en-
able the businesses of our
installers to thrive, and be
the first choice for home-
owners.”
Looking to the future,
Adrian confirmed Quick-
slide’s forthcoming plans
for a £2 million investment
in machinery, new factory
extension and in-house
systems which will see the
business’s capacity signifi-
cantly increase during the
next few years.

IronmongeryDirect festive donation brings
Christmas cheer to women’s refuge
Kind-hearted staff at
online ironmongery sup-
plier, IronmongeryDirect,
have gone the extra mile to
collect Christmas gifts, dec-
orations and food for fam-
ilies at the Basildon-based
Changing Pat hways Ref-
uge, which provides safe
accommodation to women
and children who are expe-
riencing domestic abuse.
The IronmongeryDirect
team collected over 100
gifts for almost 40 children
at the refuge, as well as
donating a large selection
of festive decorations and
food including string lights,
tinsel and wrapping paper.
IronmongeryDirect also
held a staff raffle, raising
a grand total of £1,000 for
the charity. The proceeds
will help to support fami-
lies who would otherwise
go without this Christmas.
David Saxby, Senior Cat-
egory Manager at Ironmon-
geryDirect and collection
organiser, said: “Changing
Pathways is an incredible
charity which provides
support and refuge to
vulnerable women and
their children. As a team, it
has been fantastic to rally
together this December to
collect gifts and help to
bring some festive cheer
for families at the refuge
this Christmas.”
Philippa Robson, Chief
Executive Officer at Chang-
ing Pathways, said: “We
can’t thank the team at
IronmongeryDirect enough
for bringing some much
needed joy at this time of
year. The continued gener-
osity from businesses and
individuals in our com-
munity means so much,
especially during the fes-
tive period which is often
a difficult time of year for
our families.”

in business if you want to
