SMOOTH MOVES WITH IMPROVED ROLLER SYSTEM Eurocell has brought smoother, easier ‘one touch’ operation to its popular Aspect bi-fold door system with the introduction of a new, improved double-bogie roller system. The range’s door leaves feature both horizontal and vertical multi-directional rollers which offer superior glide from eight stainless steel wheels. The rollers are in-built to the leaves for a minimised height threshold as standard, while they are also captive within the track – preventing their removal from the outside. The improved, easy touch, smooth movement of Aspect complements an already extensive list of features and benefits that make it one of the most popular bi- fold systems on the market today. Apart from the high aesthetic and performance benefits, the doors offer has- sle-free fabrication and in- stallation from intelligently designed and precision-en- gineered bespoke compo- nents that enable accurate, consistent, straightforward manufacture and fitting. Composite doors continue to perform despite toughening of conditions in 2018 According to The Mar- What’s needed in a conservation area home Profile 22 installer Max Glass recently demonstrated the benefits of the Optima system when it completed an installation in a property in a woodland conservation area near Leeds. www.eurocell.co.uk The property owners approached Max Glass with an interesting challenge. They wanted to improve the thermal efficiency of their stone-built property but, as the area’s estate manager confirmed, it was essential that any replacement repli- cated the original designs. It was a challenge the team at Max Glass was keen to take on because the company prides itself on understand- ing its customers’ needs fully and going the extra mile to achieve their expectations. Max Glass’s innovative solution was to take the 26 original leaded lights and have them restored and encapsulated by experts at Antique Glass Studio in Bradford. These were then refitted to replacement win- dows. In total, Max Glass replaced 29 casement win- dows, three bay windows and one composite door. www.profile22.co.uk ket for Domestic Entrance Doors, composite doors now account for 54% of the market, the share rising to 56% by installed value with the inclusion of PVCu/ABS faced doors. This follows an above market forecast, 9% in- crease in volume last year to 758,000 doors. This contributed to 7.9% increase in installed value for the total entrance door market, the move to com- posites from PVCu panels inflating installed prices. Taken in its entirety, the market for entrance doors, however, remained relative- ly flat last year at 1.4million door sets, with growth of just 0.9%. This compares to the 2.2% seen last year. Despite the growth of composites, PVCu panels remained the second biggest material, accounting for 25% of the market in volume terms and 24% in installed value. This included modest growth in volume last year of 0.7% to 351,000 door sets. Timber accounted for 16% in volume and 15% in in- stalled value. This included a 25% decline in volume to 228,000 doors. Steel faced door sets fell 12% in 2016 to 40,000 doors.
