PRO BUSINESS

Pyroguard Infinity range, which features heavily in the Stirling Prize photos, provides a frameless link between the atrium and teaching areas. In redevelopment, the Here East project to transform the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics media centre into a new campus for the creative and digital industries showcases our wide range of capabilities. On the ground floor, a frit pattern was applied to our Pyroguard Protect solution to provide a subtle continuation of the stunning‘ dazzle camouflage’ that wraps around the building facade. Looking beyond the UK, we were delighted to be involved in the Parc de Princes project, in the renovation of the home of Paris Saint-Germain Football Club. The
versatility of Pyroguard is highlighted by Pyroguard Integrity Plus and Pyroguard Protect being used in an atrium, combined with counterpanes to provide advanced acoustic performance and impact resistance.
7. CAN YOU TELL US WHAT INNOVATIONS / FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS MIGHT BE? We’ re about to launch our new premium Pyroguard Ultra range, which is the result of years of work by our R & D team. It is based on a unique and patented Polyelectrolyte Gel Technology. The new technology has excellent environmental credentials. The rapid production process allows considerable CO2 reduction in both production and transportation.
The monocavity constructions and low density interlayers mean low Kg / m2 and less onsite manual handling and installation issues. The ground-breaking aspect of the Pyroguard Ultra range is that it will contain the thinnest and lightest EI60 product on the market.
8. THE BUSINESS MADE STRATEGIC CHANGES IN 2015. CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT THESE AND YOUR EXPANSION PLANS? We’ ve certainly been through some changes at senior level, with the introduction of Nick Brayshaw as chairman in late 2014, and myself as chief executive at the end of 2015. Our goal for Pyroguard remains the same however, which is to grow our business by offering
the best fire glass solutions to our customers which in turn benefits their business. The introduction of the new Pyroguard Ultra range provides many expansion opportunities, both in our home UK market and in key growth markets overseas( such as Benelux, France, Iberia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East) where we’ re seeing exports grow significantly.
9. CAN YOU SAY MORE ABOUT THE NEW RANGES? It became evident that for customers new to Pyroguard it took a while to fully understand the range and make good product selections. To help with this we’ ve put product together into simple groupings which allow us to explain the features, advantages and
benefits of each and so made it easier to use or specify Pyroguard glasses. Rather than communicating over 60 product lines, we grouped them into ten ranges, covering all our fire-resistant glasses, our Smokeguard smoke barrier glass and our Attackguard range of manual attack-resistant glass.
10. WHAT ABOUT YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE WORK? We have three children aged six to 12 which as you can imagine takes up most of my free time! When I manage to escape for a while I’ m usually trying to keep fit by playing local league basketball or road cycling / mountain biking.
