Hörmann’ s latest development, the HAS1 alarm with sensor, marks a significant advance in garage door security. Designed to detect and deter forced entry, the system activates a powerful 110dB acoustic alarm if an attempt is made to manually lift the garage door without a valid travel command. Fully compatible with Hörmann’ s SupraMatic 4 and ProMatic 4 operators, the HAS1 alarm is simple to install, connecting directly to the HCP bus interface via adapters. Using a reed contact to detect door movement, with a magnet positioned on the operator’ s slide carriage, the system provides accurate activation, crucially maintaining protection even when the door is left partially open or in a ventilated position. This latest innovation complements a comprehensive suite of |
security features already available across the Hörmann sectional garage door range. Anti-lift kits, supplied as standard, automatically lock the door when closed to resist forced entry. For additional mechanical reinforcement, Hörmann offers the ETV-1HCP mechanical locking upgrade, a robust bolt-locking solution proven on industrial sectional doors and now available for domestic applications. The ETV-1HCPT automatic mechanical locking system further integrates with SupraMatic and ProMatic operators, combining the convenience of automation with the reassurance of mechanical security.
All Hörmann sectional garage doors are also supplied with Secured by Design accreditation as standard.
The importance of robust garage door security is highlighted by a recent incident in Bristol,
|
with a homeowner contacting the team at Hörmann to express his appreciation for the high level of protection provided by his sectional garage door.
Despite being a manually operated, single-skin model installed back in 2013, the door successfully withstood a prolonged attempted break-in, with intruders targeting the external handle and lock and attempting to force entry from the bottom and sides but ultimately failing to gain access.
Commenting on the incident, Mark Stoddart, Senior Technical and Product Support Engineer at Hörmann, said:“ It’ s always great to receive positive feedback from our customers and in this case to hear that our door prevented a break-in and loss of property, even after a prolonged attempt to gain entry to the garage. The LTE40 garage door fitted in this
|
case is a fairly uncomplicated door with a simple locking system, so it’ s great to hear that its inherent quality and strength held and eventually deterred the thieves.”
The homeowner has since chosen to upgrade to a fully automated RenoMatic sectional
|
garage door, providing enhanced peace of mind through automated operation, anti-lift technology and Secured by Design accreditation, together with the added benefit of improved thermal efficiency.
