VICTORIAN SLIDERS REMAINS OPEN FOR BUSINESS THROUGHOUT LOCKDOWN 3

Sash window experts Victorian Sliders will be continuing to operate as normal throughout the UK ’ s third national coronavirus lockdown unless government guidance changes .
Over the last twelve months , the Ammanford firm has adapted well to the COVID crisis , and for its 200 + staff , social distancing and other
COVID-safe practises have become second nature .
Before coming on site and at each breaktime , all staff have to be screened with heat sensor cameras , facial recognition cameras , and have to answer a questionnaire about their health and any symptoms which they access by scanning a QR code with their phone .
Group Managing Director Andy Jones comments :
“ Lockdown is far from ideal for any business , but thanks to the professionalism of our team , we ’ ve not just coped with them before , but managed to achieve the most successful year in our history . By the end of 2020 , we ’ d managed to make a staggering 83,000 windows , 24.5 % more pro rata than in 2019 , even with the restrictions . “ Crucially , the government ’ s guidelines allow installers to continue to operate in people ’ s homes throughout the current lockdown in England , Wales and Northern Ireland – although the Scottish government has banned everything except essential maintenance to utilities . “ Trade counters are also allowed to stay open throughout the UK , and I ’ m confident that business will remain steady despite the greater restrictions .
“ We look forward to continuing to serve our thousands of loyal customers across Britain throughout this difficult period .”

From Bartender to Builder

Ben Dyer , CEO of Powered Now , discusses how British construction and home improvements are essential in providing a backbone for employment and the economy :
“ New restrictions have had a negligible impact on the construction sector so far , and overall activity around construction has to be welcomed . Given the bonanza that housebuilders are currently experiencing from the stamp duty reduction , it ’ s no surprise that they are the best performing sector of the construction industry . Whether this boom for the housing industry will be followed by a bust is unknown . At the moment , most firms are just grateful for the good business they are getting right now given how much other sectors are suffering .
“ Our research has very much shown that for those struggling with employment , many can follow many before them and start a new career in the construction and trade sectors . The trade industry is traditionally a real mixed bag . Most people with think of the trade as a oneman band that comes to service your boiler or fix your blocked sink . However , there are also thousands of handymen and sub-contractors for larger firms that will tend to operate as their own entity . This will provide the perfect opportunity for millions of people looking to find work in a sector that is strongly bouncing back following the first lockdown .”

The new role will see Kevin covering both and looking at all the compliance aspects such as BSI , ISO , and Secured by Design . Jeremy Phillips , Group Chairman , explained the thinking behind the move : “ At CDW Systems we ’ ve always prided ourselves on complying with all the right industry accreditations . Whereas in the past we have done this independently between CDW Systems and Clearway , we have decided to put it in Kevin ’ s hands and take the single approach , so it ’ s all under one roof . We can now make sure that everything is catered for across the whole Group .”
