BRITISH ARCHITECTURE ALIVE AND KICKING

Winners of the RIBAJ Rising Stars awards – which recognises the talents of architects and designers early in their careers – show that British architecture is in a healthy state.
The international awards are organised by RIBA Journal and sponsored by Origin, the British manufacturer of bi-fold and residential doors, windows and blinds. The awards were presented at a ceremony in London. Entrants were judged on their original thinking, leadership, collaborative approach and hard work by a panel of judges that were once Rising Stars themselves. This was chaired by the RSA’ s Matthew Taylor; Lucy Tilley, associate director at Adjaye Associates; Maria Smith, founder of Interrobang; Patrick Bellew, principal at Atelier Ten; Gus Zogolovitch, managing director of Inhabit Homes; and Eleanor Young, executive editor of RIBAJ. It was the judges’ task to pick a shortlist from a pool of talented UK designers which was then cut
further to an elite cohort:‘ The RIBAJ Rising Stars of 2016.’ This year’ s list included:

Epwin Window Systems is preparing for another busy year in 2017 by strengthening and expanding its sales team. And as well as some new faces, the company is delighted to announce the return of someone that will be familiar to many Epwin customers.
Paul Lindsay has rejoined the company as sales director, after a sabbatical in glazing industry recruitment. Paul said:“ The attraction of a return to Epwin was too strong to ignore. I left the business four years ago, and having taken a close look at the company now as part of the process of rejoining, I am very impressed with everything that is going on. We have so much to offer now, in terms of product development and customer support and the plans I have seen for next year and beyond made the decision very easy for me.”
