EASING THE JOB OF
CHANGING FRICTION STAYS
Experienced repair people know that replacing or repairing a window sash can be a
tricky task. This process carries risks to the health and safety of one person having
to hold the window, of which some may exceed 25kg and the potential damage
it could cause should the fitter drop the window in the middle of the repair.
Glazesafe shows how with Sashmate, a ‘clamp and brace tool’ designed for
repair people to enable them to carrier out the repair, even if working alone.
Clamp each Sashmate® Top Hung
tool vertically over the window
frame by the turn of a single thumb
screw
Move the horizontal telescopic arms
outwards and upwards to meet the
bottom of the open window sash and
fix into position
Adjust the extendable pins to sit
against the top of the window sash
Remove the hinge fixings and close
the hinges
Apply slight pressure to the top of
the sash and release the pins
Lift the sash off of the horizontal
arms and into the building for repairs
Lift the sash back onto the
Sashmate® horizontal arms and re-fit
the pins
Open the hinges into position and
re-fit fixings
