Vidic to move on
this summer
Manchester United captain,
Nemanja Vidic will leave
the Premier League club at
the end of the season.
The Serbia defender has enjoyed a mega successful career
at Old Trafford since joining
from Spartak Moscow in 2006,
helping the club win a string
of trophies.
But his contract runs out in
the summer and he will seek
out a fresh challenge, with Inter Milan thought to be favourites to sign the 32-year-old.
A statement from Vidic on
Manchester United’s official
website read: “I never could
have imagined winning 15
trophies and I will certainly
never forget that fantastic
night in Moscow, memories
that will live with me and the
fans forever.
“However, I have decided
that I will move on at the end
of this season. I want to challenge myself again and try to
make the best of myself in the
coming years.
“I’m not considering staying
in England as the only club I
ever wanted to play for here is
Manchester United and I was
lucky enough to be part of
this club for so many years.
“I’ve got a few options to
move on and I will choose the
right one for me and for my
family.
Put your skills to the test, says Theo
Theo Paphitis, leading
entrepreneur and patron of
WorldSkills UK – The Skills
Show, is calling on the UK’s
most talented to put their
skills to the test and enter
the WorldSkills UK National Competitions.
Apprentices and learners can
register WorldSkills UK Competitions until 21 March, 2014.
The Competitions inspire young
people and adults to be ambitious in their pursuit of skills
to the highest level. Entering
the Competitions is proven to
catapult a person’s career and
taking part enables a competitor to build on their skills, test
their knowledge against peers
in industry and showcase their
potential.
Competitors who are successful in the regional heats and
reach the finals of the World-
Skills UK National Competitions
will battle it out to be ‘named
the best in the UK’ in their chosen skill in front of over 80,000
visitors at The Skills Show
which will take place from the
13 - 15 November at the NEC
Birmingham.
Theo said: “The WorldSkills
UK Competitions showcase and
celebrate the high levels of talent entering the UK’s workforce.
They reward real talent and
I hope this will show everyone how Apprenticeships and
vocational training can lead to
worthwhile careers.
“If you or anyone you know
has what it takes to become
the best in their industry, then
please encourage them to get
involved.”
Outstanding national finalists
from this year’s WorldSkills UK
National Competition Cycle,
who meet the qualifying criteria,
could be selected for a once in
a lifetime opportunity to represent the UK in their chosen skill
at the international WorldSkills
Competition.
More information about WorldSkills UK National Competitions

VEKA UK Group returns
to Fensterbau
The VEKA UK Group will
be exhibiting at the worldrenowned Fensterbau
exhibition for the third
consecutive time when the
industry-leading systems
supplier will be flying the
flag for British manufacturing and high quality UK
products.
Visitors can expect to see a host
of products from brands within
The VEKA UK Group, including
the chance to get a ‘sneak peek’

sterbau is a superb platform for

“While we were somewhat reluctant to join Assure at first, we have
found the specific benefits it offers
both us and our customers are
hard to beat.
“As installers, Assure offers us
training that we wouldn’t get with
other schemes. 26 of our surveyors and fitters recently completed
the MTC (Minimum Technical
Competencies) training as part
of our Assure membership, and
everyone agreed that the training
was straightforward, easy to un-
derstand, and the one day course
made the whole process a lot
smoother.”
Gary adds: “We’ve definitely
found Assure to be cost-effective
route to compliance.”
Assure’s Technical and Compliance Manager, Austin Greene
comments: “More than 80% of
Assure certified companies have
put their surveyors and installers
through the MTC process, and are
well placed for when the Building Regulations change in June
2014. After that date, installers of a
competent person scheme will fail
audits if they cannot prove their
surveyors and installers have MTCs
or equivalent.”

Competent Person Scheme, licensed by the DCLG and the Welsh
Assembly to enable installers to
