GOING
FOR GOLD
The Window Company
(Contracts) Ltd has been
recognised at Silver 3 level
in the Glass and Glazing
Federation (GGF) GLASS
Charter Merit Scheme.
In 2016 The Window
Company (Contracts) Ltd
took part in the first group
of audits against the GGF
GLASS Charter. The culture
of the business and the
evidence provided clearly
showed they were a com-
pany that recognised the
clear link between safety of
employees and customers
with success.
They achieved Silver Level
2 at the first go, the highest
level any member of the
GGF has reached the first
time around.
David Thornton, MD of
the Window Company Con-
tracts added: “Everything
around the GLASS Charter is
positive for us – it helps to
strengthen the Health and
Safety culture which already
exists here, and it brings us
positive recognition from
our commercial clients.
We’re now focused on the
incremental improvements
we need to achieve Gold
and we’re excited by that
challenge.”

Spotlight on financial health
Following research with over
15,000 companies, Insight Data
has compared the financial perfor-
mance of fabricators and installers
as part of a new industry report.
It reveals a significant divide
between supply-only fabricators,
fabricators that install, and install-
ers who don’t manufacture.
As small and medium com-
panies don’t need to publish
turnover or full accounts, Insight
measured ‘net worth’ taken from
their latest published accounts
and calculated industry average
benchmarks.
Fabricators who ‘supply only’
performed the best over the
last three years with an average
net worth up some 80% from
£280,220 to £505,047. Fabrica-
tors who install improved from
£219,093 to £265,228 - a rise of
21%, while installers who buy-
in strengthened their financial
position by 9%, from £49,651 to
£54,280.
It must be noted that companies
post their published accounts in
arrears and the clear majority of
accounts relate to a 2016 financial
year end.
tion for a new-build
special school called for a
colour coding of windows
with unusual bespoke re-
veals and cills, the solution
came in a combination
of PVCu windows set in
made-to-order aluminium
surrounds.
Birkenhead-based K2
Aluminium Systems Ltd,
despite its name, is also an
established PVCu installer,
so was ideally placed to
come up with the solu-
tion.
Palmerston School, Liver-
pool, is a special school for
pupils aged 11 to 19 with
multiple learning difficulties,
and is now housed in the
new-built premises replacing
an original building nearby.
The windows are colour
coded in red, blue, yellow
and green to help pupils
navigate around the school
and identify different areas.
two-day trade show aimed
at architects, interior design-
ers and specifiers, returns
to Olympia for its 2018
London edition on January
24th and 25th.
Over 100 international
architectural suppliers will
showcase new products
and offer the latest innova-
tions in surface solutions
and lighting technology as
well as interior and exterior
fixtures and fittings.
All exhibitors go through
a rigorous selection
process, with an external
judging panel overseeing
the product selection, to
ensure that only the latest
innovations are presented.
The theme for 2018 is light.
To reflect this, some of the
most influential minds in
the industry will discuss
topics ranging from natural
light and wellness to sus-
tainability.
