The new highly thermally-insulated Slim Line 38 series also has better performance with SL38 and SL38-HI offering ultra slim profiles and improved energy efficiency. It has the look and feel of steel with the performance of aluminium and comes in three designs, Classic, Cubic and Ferro. The minimal frame is reinforced by an invisible drainage system avoiding use of drainage caps on the exterior of windows and doors. A highly insulated three-chamber system offers thermal characteristics and the solution is available in fixed, turn, and turntilt variations with Uw values of 1.4W/m²K or greater depending on configuration. The system is suitable for double and triple glazing with a glass thickness of up to 55mm ‘The SL38 is perfectly suited for the retention of existing structures’ without losing the ultra-slim look. The SL38 product also offers excellent weather performance with air tightness of Class 4 (600Pa) and water tightness Class 9A (600Pa). A special modification means the system is available with hidden hinges. In BBC1’s two-part special, the DIY SOS team delivered its most ambitious project to date when it agreed to refurbish more than 60 houses in Manchester’s New Street and Canada Street. The building works created an improved, more resident-friendly neighbourhood and included a Walking with the Wounded advice and therapy centre as well as extensive streetscaping. Kingfisher, which has been trading since 1989 and has an annual turnover of £10m, appointed Purplex as its strategic marketing partner as part of an ambitious growth plan. Paul Beetham, Kingfisher director, plans to grow the business through scaling up its retail operations. He said: “We wanted a marketing partner who really understood our business and could help us grow. Purplex started with our website and within six weeks our retail sales leads increased by 50%.” Kingfisher employs 100 people and operates from a 30,000 sq ft factory, manufacturing PVCu windows, doors and 6
