The ABS lock, which was the first of its type to be accredited to the new British Standard TS007 (3-star) and is the only retro-fit euro cylinder that has passed the SS312 Sold Secure Diamond standard, is Avocet’s response to the rise in lock-snapping across the UK. Dr Tinkle Jain, director of Avocet Hardware, stated: “We are tackling lock-snapping head-on and are adamant that by working with the Police, Neighbourhood and Home Network Watch, and locksmiths across the country we can stop this worryingly quick and easy form of forced entry in its tracks.” “Raymond’s appointment provides the scope to take this campaign to the next level. He has a huge amount of experience ‘A real difference for homeowners everywhere’ in the industry, which combined with his drive and sheer enthusiasm will help open, and then firmly secure, doors everywhere he goes.” During his 25-years promoting and selling locks, security and hardware products, Raymond has worked with a host of market leaders, including Ingersoll Rand, Listers, Firestop and Eliza Tinsley, where he’s held sales director, sales management and account management roles. As Technical and Compliance Manger for Network VEKA’s Competent Person Scheme, Assure, Austin Greene is responsible for ensuring that all Assure members are fully compliant with the Minimum Technical Competencies (MTC) that are required as part of their membership. To help guide members through the CE Marking and self-certification processes, Austin runs regular series’ of seminars and workshops, where he explains what the changes in legislation are for members of Competent Person Schemes, and how Network VEKA can assist them in implementing such changes. Other topics that Austin covers in these sessions include CE Marking, the Green Deal and Energy Ratings. Sash Windows’ Craig Bedford attended one of the seminars earlier this year and said: “Austin covered a lot of subjects in a short space of time, but we were informed of everything we needed to know in regards to the new regulations. He also reconfirmed other important regulations and Health and Safety matters, which gives us confidence that we know we are doing things correctly.” Network VEKA, 01282 473170, www.networkveka.co.uk
