RAISES MONEY
TO SUPPORT
SURVIVORS
OF MODERN
SLAVERY
Colmore Tang Construction (CTC)
has shown its commitment to supporting
survivors of modern slavery by raising mon-
ey for the Jericho Foundation - a charity
which supports victims and helps them to
secure, safe and sustainable employment.
Last month, during its first annual com-
pany conference at the Park Regis hotel
in Birmingham, CTC joined forces with
the charity to highlight the ever-increasing
problem of modern slavery in the UK to 150
delegates, raising £2,570 for the charity.
It is estimated that there are over 13,000
individuals who are currently in modern
slavery, and that Birmingham and the West
Midlands has the highest concentration of
survivors, outside of London.
Labour exploitation is the most recorded
type of modern slavery. The construction
sector accounts for approximately 10% of
total employment (approximately three
million jobs) in the UK and as such, is one
of the industries identified as high risk for
labour exploitation.
