FLAIR CREATES SPACE FOR EXPECTED DEMAND

Flair Plastic Products is enjoying success with its PremiFold / Invisifold products. Here, marketing manager Adrian Keegan tells us what makes Flair tick.
The company reports an excellent first half of the year and says that is largely down to the introduction of new products. As well as the factory where Flair manufactures its Kommerling PVCu and Smarts aluminium products, there is also a wellstocked trade counter where local customers can order anything from windows and doors, trims and roofline, to workwear and cleaning cloths. Customers from further afield can order through the Flair online shop. Flair recently introduced the Kommerling PremiFold slide and swing system, which pairs the chamfered C70 and ovolo O70 profile suites with the greenteQ Invisifold Slide & Fold hardware system. The company launched PremiFold / Invisifold at the FiT Show – with a door and an outward opening window on the stand- and received positive feedback. Adrian said:“ We took lots of firm enquiries from installers and
our sales team has been busy following those up since. We’ re at the point now where everyone has been quoted and most are now buying. We’ re making three or four PremiFolds a week at the moment from a standing start a couple of months ago and we know that will continue to grow. We’ ve made various configurations including a really nice six pane door and have had to create more fabrication space to cope with anticipated demand.” Flair customers have the option of buying a standard Premi- Fold door or can upgrade to the PAS24 / Document Q version. Adrian said:“ Because we’ re using standard profiles we can fit our normal resi-door lock to keep stock down, but upgrading to PAS24 is really easy as we just need to follow the locking system specification laid out in VBH’ s PAS24 certification. Of course, offering a PAS24 / Document Q approved door opens up the whole new-build market to us and our customers.”
Space is being made in Flair’ s large on-site showroom for PremiFold doors and windows. Trade customers are always welcome to bring their own customers to the showroom so everyone can try before they buy. Adrian said:“ Because the greenteQ Invisifold hardware is all concealed it means we can make PremiFolds on any of our nine stocked colours. Anthracite
grey is particularly popular. The end users love the colour options and the fact that they can choose how many door leaves to open, and whether to fully fold them or just slide for ventilation. It’ s a truly flexible door. Feedback from installers is that PremiFold is very easy to fit, so time taken on site is kept to a minimum.” Flair has also started manufacturing the Smarts Visofold aluminium
bi-fold door, using greenteQ Clearspan hardware. Clearspan offers plenty of adjustment so, like PremiFold, is easy to install. This is making it another hit with installers and a separate area has also been created for Visofold production.

CAMDEN WINS EVANDER

Following a competitive tender, Camden Group, the UK’ s leading trade frame manufacturer, is delighted to announce that it has been appointed as the window and door supplier to Evander Group, one of the UK’ s leading specialists in glazing, doors and windows. Through its national infrastructure of 19 depots, Evander provides 24 / 7, emergency response and fulfilment services to UK
domestic insurers( including major brands such as Aviva, LBG and RSA), the commercial sector and direct to consumers.“ Because of the nature of its business- around two-thirds of Evander’ s business comes through insurance claims- the Evander contract presents fresh new challenges for Camden,” says Sales Manager, Roy Harrison.“ Generally, with a major customer the size of Evander, you’ re manufacturing and delivering large
numbers of windows and doors to a specific site or depot.“ However, as Evander is an emergency service provider, our work with Evander flips the normal supply model on its head and requires us to fulfil a very large number of orders- usually consisting of a single replacement door or window- and deliver those orders across their full depot network, from Aberdeen to Plymouth.”“ From a manufacturing perspective, it’ s not that
much of a difference as every product we produce is tailor-made anyway. But from an IT, project management and logistics perspective, it’ s a very different ball game, and our ability to deliver such a complex contract is testimony to the innovation and investment Camden has made in our IT and management infrastructure and logistics capabilities over the past couple of years. All of which goes to show that, for Camden, no order is too small!”
