Yale’s Postmaster Professional
TS008 letterplate ticks all the
boxes for meeting standards
and fire door compliance
Since its launch in 2018, Yale’s
Postmaster Professional TS008 letterplate
has made significant developments boast-
ing a long list of features that set it apart
from other letterplates in the market, most
notably fire testing.
RECORD SALES FOR
COLOUR COLLECTION
Sales of the Duraflex Diamond Suites’ coloured
profile has been growing year-on-year and this
recent surge shows no signs of slowing, with
further growth expected for their retail, new build
and commercial fabricators throughout 2020.
Homeowners are more
informed than ever before
and where they were once
often driven by so-called
‘distress purchases’, the
industry is now seeing
more and more consum-
ers led by aesthetics and
performance. Combine this
behaviour shift with the
rise in premium products,
such as bi-fold doors and
the flush sash which lend
themselves to a colour fin-
ish and it’s clear to see that
offering a market leading
colour range represents a
key strategic growth oppor-
tunity for Duraflex and its
customer base.
“We’ve experienced
considerable year-on-year
growth across our colour
offering, and combined
with the popularity of more
high-end products, such as
our Flush Sash it’s not sur-
prising that the demand for
colour has now hit record
levels,” commented Duraf-
lex Head of Marketing, Kay
McGrady.
To help Duraflex custom-
ers stay one step ahead, the
systems house has been
working closely with leading
foil manufacturer Renolit, to
evaluate the market trends
and to ensure that their col-
our offering ticks the boxes
for fabricators, installers and
homeowners alike.
Following the extensive
analysis and customer re-
search, Duraflex are excited
to be launching 2 new
colours into their collec-
tion, with the introduction
of ‘Balmoral’, a stunning,
prestige finish and ‘Smooth
Grey’, the hugely popular
7016 Anthracite Grey, in
a stunning, contemporary
matt finish.
Additionally, to further
support their colour cre-
dentials, Duraflex will be
introducing two brand new
colour substrates, ‘grey’ and
‘tan’. Kay explains, “With
the growing demand for
colour, we are committed
to delivering a market
leading range, which is
driven by truly understand-
ing the consumer. The two
new substrates will provide
exciting sales opportunities
for our customer base, with
the grey substrate allow-
ing dual colour grey foils
to much more effectively
replicate aluminium, whilst
the new tan substrate will
be the ideal pairing for
many of our wood grain
effects. Customer feedback
has been overwhelmingly
positive and we can’t wait
to bring these colours to
market.”

FD60
The FD60 specification tests doorsets
to withstand at least 60 minutes protec-
tion against fires. When tested as part of
a doorset, Yale’s Postmaster Professional
TS008 letterplate not only exceeded the
FD60 time test by an additional 25%, but
also successfully passed the smoke leak-
age test.
Secured by Design (SBD)
Studies have shown that SBD recognised
developments are up to 75% less likely to
be burgled and show a reduction of 25%
in criminal damage , while the Association
of British Insurers estimates that intro-
ducing SBD across the UK would save the
economy more than £3.2 billion over the
course of 20 years . If a project is recog-
nised by SBD, it has shown that it meets a
number of exacting standards. As such, it
has become an important part of quality
assurance for housing providers and is
referenced in UK Building Regulations. The TS008 technical specification was
developed by the Door & Hardware Feder-
ation (DHF) and covers ‘enhanced security
and general requirements for letter plate
assemblies and slide through boxes’. Its
main purpose is evaluating how the letter-
plate performs against opportunist attacks
from burglars and other criminals, though
it also assesses its resistance to corrosion,
water, and fire.
PAS 24:2016 Approved Document Q
On 1st October 2018, an updated ver-
sion of the PAS 24 standard, which covers
enhanced security doorsets, came into
effect. PAS 24:2016 is now mandatory for
all new developments or refurbishment
projects that wish to meet Secured by
Design, and this includes the requirement
for TS008 letterplates to be installed on all
doorsets. TS008 certified letterplates are specifical-
ly referenced within the Building Regu-
lation’s Approved Document Q as being
shown to protect against various attack
methods, including letterplate ‘fishing’.
The Yale Postmaster Professional let-
terplate helps architects, specifiers, and
OEMs to meet all these standards. It is the
most rigorously tested TS008 product on
the market and comes from a brand that is
trusted to produce fully compliant doorset
components.
The letterplate has an external austenitic
304 stainless steel letter flap that comes
with a 25-year surface finish guarantee. It
also features a flap that opens 180 degrees
to help eliminate excess leverage on pivot
points and a complete peripheral seal on
the external flap to help form a thermal
and acoustic barrier.
It is available in a range of finishes
including polished, brushed, satin silver,
gold, black and white, and its elegant and
slim design makes it suitable even for nar-
row hallways.
