Anne-Marie Busch, Marketing Manager,
comments:
“As the tiled roof category is growing,
it is becoming more important to ensure
that the design and specifications of the
systems meet up to the highest standards.
Rob’s roof – the Icoroof – is what’s known
as a cold roof construction: and yes, cold
roof does not exactly give all the right
feels, but essentially, it can be described
as having the thermal insulation layer
located between the ceiling joists so that
Eco-friendly Fully Ventilated
Sustainable, FSC
certified timber For the perfect
living environment
everything above the insulation (rafters,
any roof space) will be colder than the
living space below it.
“As can be seen from the illustration
(cross section 1), that is how the Icoroof,
Icoview and Ico600 are constructed, en-
suring the empty spaces are well venti-
lated (as a traditional roof would be) to
avoid condensation. By using 155mm EPS
insulation we ensure that the “cold” from
this roof stays well away from the room.
Whether choosing the ‘cold’ or ‘warm’
option, the Icotherm products all share the
following technology points:
They are specified to the highest levels
to guarantee performance:
• Timber, a material with thermal con-
ductivity of only 0.16 W/m2k, simpli-
fies the process of insulation and ven-
tilation – against an aluminium frame),
as it does not require cloaking.
• Premium C24 building grade timber
and 155mm EPS boards guarantees
the structural integrity and U-Value
performance (0.18W/m2k, which can
be brought down to 0.12W/m2k with
the use of insulated plasterboard, ideal
for the Scottish market).
• Designed either with a fully ventilated
“cold” roof construction, with airflow
circulating over the eaves and through
the entire roof, or with a “warm” roof
construction, ensuring condensation
will never be an issue.

• Pre-fabricated pods and pre-cut insu-
lation provides a solution that goes up
quickly (an average sized roof should
go up in 2 hours, with the waterproof
membrane on)
• 155mm fully recyclable, rigid EPS
insulation
And did you know?
• CRA (Condensations Risk Analysis)
checked and approved.
• Beams and insulation pre-cut to size
• Cut tile service available for shingle
tiles
• Tiles delivered with the roof
• Fully labelled components for a wor-
ry-free installation

• We can design gable roofs without tie
bars
Icotherm is becoming the
‘ go-to
name for installers ’
“Add this to all fast fit capability - water-
tight ready for tiling within four hours of
an old roof coming off – and the right-
first-time kit, it’s why Icotherm is becom-
ing the go-to name for installers, and we’re
confident it will be asked for by name by
homeowners in the near future too.
“We’re so pleased the Exleys are happy
with their new home.”
ing Control makes specific de-
mands.
Icotherm invested a lot of time
and money into making sure that
our roof options are structurally
sound and met building control
requirements.
So, not only does Icotherm
provide the installer with a ready
to go, easy to install solution,
but one for which the structural
calculations have already been
done. It saves time (fast install,
no prep work), money (no material
wastage), and of course is building
control compliant.
And to further protect our prod-
uct integrity, we now also work with
Building Control Inspectors Ball &
Berry, who carry out strict checks
to ensure the roofs certified are
indeed ours.
