Emirates Festival of Literature, Festival City
The Emirates Festival of Literature commenced on the 3rd of March, 2016 and the English Literature students of Years 9 and 10 availed the opportunity to attend a screening of an incredible version of Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ followed by a talk by Fiona Lindsay, the Organiser of the event. It was a live version of the play recorded in East London in 2001 by the Digital Theatre Group. It was unedited version which made it even more enjoyable and realistic. What made it memorable were the incredible cast and swift crew that didn’t let us believe even for a moment that we weren’t in Italy in the 16th century. It was quite an exemplary learning experience out of the everyday setting to witness a modern day tale of Shakespeare’s timeless comedy.
