Around the Town Holiday Activities Kristy Morris organised Teddy Bears picnics at the Hay Park during the holidays. Gathering kids together Kristy, with the help of Leo Fitzpatrick, conducted hide and seek games, nail painting, temporary tattoos, fun activities and picnics, three days each week of the school break. The sound of children's laughter filled the park as youngsters enjoyed running around in the fresh air. “It’s better than having them sitting around the house playing Xbox,” said one mother. Pictured left, the kids show off the amazing variety of ‘Teddy Bears’, who also enjoyed their day in the sun. The wonderful aroma of fresh popcorn greeted library users during the school holidays when a PG & popcorn morning was held. Children were invited to watch a movie and enjoy ‘movie treats’. Tuesday morning reading is attracting lots of mums and young children. Beth Coffey informed the Printed Post, that lots of families, especially new residents, are enjoying story time and activities, and making new friends. Story time is held every Tuesday at 10am. Hay Skate Park was the place to be on a sunny winters day. Local and visiting kids grabbed their boards and scooters to practice their skills on the jumps and in the bowl. Snow Cubs In the July school holidays, local Cub Scouts were invited to join Cubs from Leeton at a snow camp at Cabramurra. In perfect snow conditions, the children enjoyed tobogganing, snowball fights, building snowmen, trekking to the lookout and plenty of games. Cubs is for boys and girls aged 8 – 11 years and meets weekly on Tuesdays at 6pm at the Baden Powell Scout Hall. Scouts is for young people aged 11 – 15 years and will be restarting in Hay on Monday 21st July at 7pm. New members looking for adventure are always welcome.
