Hay Lion’s Generosity Finances AFL Development Program The AFL In-School Development program launched lon Friday 8th of August at the Hay Lions Footy ground, with over 120 children from both Hay Public School and St Marys attending. The program, delivered by AFL staff from Griffith, Wagga, and Albury, focuses on fun and fitness with school friends rather than talent, however increasing Auskick and junior footy numbers is a driving factor for bringing the program to Hay. The program will run for the remainder of term 3 each Friday from 2pm – 3pm at the Hay Lions Football Ground. Parents of children participating are encouraged to come along on Fridays to watch and even join in some sessions and speak to AFL staff about getting involved in Auskick. The Hay Lions Football Club has very generously financed the program to allow all children in Hay in years 4, 5 and 6 from both primary schools to attend free of charge, with all participants also receiving an AFL starter pack. The program also extends to running AFL coaching courses for local teachers and High School students, as well as a community coaching course designed to increase volunteer numbers at Club Auskick and support teachers coaching school football teams. 29
